A suspected drug baronness and her members, were arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Nguru, Yobe State Command, who intercepted illegal substance; Marijuana neatly concealed in their car.

According to the agency, the suspected drug baronness and her members’ arrest came, as they traveled with about 56kg of Cannabis Sativa along Nguru Kano road.

The recent arrest by the agency, came after a Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) arrested a female graduate and a secondary school drop-out with illicit drugs.

The agency also said drug couriers prefer to fly Ethiopian Airlines. The suspects arrested are Harriet Bolatito Solabi, 34-year old Higher National Diploma holder, and Victor Chukwu, a school drop-out.

Solabi, said the statement, was nabbed on board an Ethiopian Airways aircraft that was set to depart the country with 3.9 kilogrammes of ephedrine and 1.6 kilogrammes of methamphetamine. The statement added that the NDLEA has resolved to henceforth prevent any airline from taking off on grounds of reasonable suspicion for illicit drugs.

On the other hand, Daily Trust reported that the Abia State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) revealed that it has arrested 344 suspects and recorded 53 convictions last year.

The State’s commander Bamidele Akingbade, said the command also recovered 3 tons of weeds suspected to be cannabis, heroin and some substance which tested positive for cocaine.

He said the command intercepted two vehicles, one in Umuahia and the other in Aba, coming from Edo State carrying some bags of dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis weighing 750kg.
