Following the defeat of the PDP in the September 28th Edo Governorship election, the former minister of foreign affairs and a supposed prominent leader in the PDP Chief Tom Ikimi has begun surreptitious attempts to return to the ruling APC.

Politics Nigeria gathered that Chief Ikimi told close circle of friends in Abuja that he was already reaching out to the APC leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he termed a reconcilatory meeting. Chief Ikimi, often hailed as the "Oduma" (lion) of Esanland is reported as pleading through his emissaries that Asiwaju should display the "nobility of forgiveness".

It will be recalled that both Ikimi and Asiwaju had a bitter feud after Ikimi failed to secure the chairmanship of the APC which he blamed on Asiwaju. This led to his exit from the party.

It was also revealed that Chief Ikimi has approached some close circles of Comrade-Governor Oshiomhole to initiate an urgent peace meeting. Chief Ikimi told his representatives that he has enough evidence to prove that the PDP lost the election.

Chief Ikimi is said to be very angry with Ize-Iyamu and State party chairman Dan Orbih over the disbursement of resources donated by some PDP governors for the election. He was quoted as saying "instead of Pastor and Dan to come up with explanation of what actually came and how and what was expended, they are trying to single me out for failure in Esanland, I will not be humiliated by these boys" he concludes.

Chief Ikimi is being blamed by Ize-Iyamu for the failure of the PDP to have a 'complete sweep' of Edo central senatorial zone.

The PDP won four of the five local government areas that makeup Edo central senatorial zone. Orhionmwon local government area in Edo South was the only win for the PDP outside Edo central , making it five while the APC won thirteen of the eighteen local government areas of the state.
