Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State on Wednesday disowned the Ijebu APC candidate for Ogun governorship race, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry.

Amosun spoke his mind at a press conference held at the Governor’s Office, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta with Ogun Yewa-Awori elders led by Deacon Poju Adeyemi.
His words: “I was not around when he (Ashiru) was elected, I was in Anambra then. It was an Oba who called to inform me that a member of my cabinet had been elected as the Ogun East APC candidate.

“I am a focused person. I don’t look around when I am heading somewhere. We the sons of the soil know ourselves. Ogun is a no go area for some strangers who go about looking for their father’s house.”
Amosun also assured the elders not to exercise any fear because he once dethroned his leader (Aremo Olusegun Osoba) in the politics of Ogun Central district, so he can still support and promote any candidate of his choice.

“I know GNI, Mamora and some others but i don’t know some people who go about claiming to hail from our land.

“If I say I am handing over to a candidate from Ogun West, it does not mean I am handing over to atohunriwa.

“Like I said before, I am saying it again, I am handing over to Ogun West, come 2019.”
”This does not mean other candidates from other senatorial districts cannot contest, they can. We know how we did it that we won the election in Ogun Central.
“Therefore, put your mind at rest, no room for strangers from anywhere, I repeat,” he stated.
Prof. Biyi Afonja appealed to the governor to take a look at Ogun West politicians and pick one of them to take over from him and they will support him.

“I have spent over 90 percent of my life on Yewa affairs, so therefore, let the governor’s seat go to Ogun West.
“I would have been a governor if God had ordained me in 1979 but God knows why I declined then and why it stands till this date,” he said.
He made it known to the meeting that he was with the council who picked Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi last week at Yewa.
