Aluu 4: Port Harcourt Stands Still As Toku Is Buried
Tears flowed freely yesterday as remains of Lloyd Toku Mike, one of the four University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) students, who was brutally murdered in Omuokiri community, Aluu clan, Rivers State, on October 5, 2012, were buried in Port Harcourt City cemetery, opposite Free-Town Street, off Aggrey Road, Port.
Toku was a 200 level engineering student and first son of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Toku Mike. His dad is an Assistant Director of Programmes, Rivers State Broadcasting Service. As early as 8am, mourners and sympathisers had started gathering in their residence at No. 29 Captain Amangala Street, Town, Port Harcourt. Some sympathisers, who wore black T-shirt with Lloyd’s picture on it, moved straight to mortuary, as they wanted to capture every bit of the action, while other waited patiently at the residence.
At exactly 9:59am, the ambulance, a Ford Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) with a Lagos registration number, BDG 485 AS, bearing the corpse, arrived the family house for the last time. “My baby is here,” the grieving mother muttered, as she touched the ambulance bearing the body of her cherished son. After about five minutes, the body was moved to the field, where an open church service was held, before the remains were taken to the Port Harcourt City Cemetery for internment.
Ini Edo Speaks On Divorce, N600m Largesse
p Nollywood actress, Ini Edo-Ehiagwina, is currently enmeshed in controversies about her marriage and an alleged largesse from the Akwa Ibom State governor Godswill Akpabio.
Not mincing words and obviously angry, the actress spat fire at those paddling untrue stories about her.
She said, “As a rule, I don’t reply
every talk or report about me, but these recent ones are crazy and
baseless. I don’t know where they got their information that my state
governor offered me N600m to build an art or film academy in Uyo.
“This is just another work of mischief
makers, who keep troubling celebrities. To put the records straight, my
state governor has not offered me such money to build a film academy in
Uyo (the Akwa Ibom State capital), as was falsely reported.
“As for the other wicked rumours that
I’ve been divorced by my United States–based husband, Phillip Ehiagwina,
that is just another lie that can only come from professional happy
home breakers. No fight or separation ever happened. We are still
together, doing great things as husband and wife.”

How Saraki Prepared For Death *Bequeathed Properties To Aides, Needy 3 Months Before Now
THE Generalissimo of Kwara politics, Dr Olusola Saraki, fondly called Oloye, had long foreseen his death and had prepared well ahead for it, given the scenarios that played out some weeks before he passed on.
Nigerian Tribune can reveal authoritatively that Saraki deliberately chose the period of the last Eid-el-fitr celebration, couple of weeks ago, to hint his family members, political disciples, godsons and friends about his impending journey to the great beyond, as he called them to his side batch by batch to pray for each one.
The strong pillar of Kwara politics was said to have even bequeathed his precious belongings such as money, landed properties, his holy books, apparels and souvenirs to very close family members and aides, as part of hints on his impending departure.
The most touching gesture detailing the large heart demonstrated by Saraki to his followers centered on how he dashed out one of his wide expanses of land in Ilorin two weeks ago to market women who were initially driven out of the Ago market where they had been doing business for decades. Schoolboy, 13, Spends TWO DAYS With Pencil Stuck In Hand After Hospital Sent Him Home And Made Him Wait For Operation .
A thirteen-year-old was left in agony after a hospital sent him home twice with a pencil embedded in his hand.
Robbie Appleby-Socket, of Askern, Doncaster, was larking about with his friends when the six-inch pencil wedged inside his skin, leaving him in severe pain.
His mother Emma rushed him to Doncaster Royal Infirmary's accident and emergency department, where he was told to come back the following day for an operation.
But when the pair returned the next morning, they were told Robbie’s name was not on the list, and the operation would have to be rescheduled for another time.
Desperate Mrs Appleby-Socket was then forced to take her son 20 miles from their home to Pinderfields Hopsital in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Doctors there operated immediately and Robbie stayed in hospital for two nights on an antibiotic drip to ensure the injury would not become infected.
Mrs Appleby-Socket said: 'Robbie was in agony and the pencil was protruding from his hand but the staff at Doncaster Royal Infirmary didn’t seem that concerned.
'You would have thought it was something they could have done straight away but they just left the pencil where it was, put a bandage over it and said he would have to come back.

Sweden 4 England 2: Ibra-cadabra! Zlatan the magic man scores all four, including a stunning propeller-kick... one of the greatest goals EVER
Something really annoyed Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It may have been the unkind comparison to Andy Carroll made by England fans or he may have been offended by the sudden rush of so many unfamiliar substitutes.
Whatever it was, he responded by completing his hat-trick and then scored a fourth - quite possibly one of the greatest goals scored by anyone, anywhere in the world.
Joe Hart headed a clearance up rather than away and Ibrahimovic followed it through the air before springing to apply an overhead kick from 30 yards out, wide on the right, which arched over the stranded goalkeeper and into the open goal.

My Father Died Of Cancer – Olaolu Saraki
Olaolu, son of the Senate Republic Senate Leader, Dr Olusola Saraki, said in Lagos on Wednesday that his father died of cancer.
“He has been battling cancer for about five years. He was fine this morning. He was comfortable and even said his prayers.
“He died in the presence of one of my brothers, my mother and my two sisters,” Olaolu told newsmen at his father’s residence on Cameron Road, Ikoyi. “He gave up the ghost at about 6 a.m.,” he said. Meanwhile, ACN leader Bola Tinubu has described the late Saraki as a statesman of immense character.
“Saraki was a national hero to many of us in this country and had greatly contributed to the freedom and political emancipation of Nigerian democracy,” saidTinubu, who spoke with newsmen at the Saraki residence in Lagos. “His death came as a shock but he has lived a very fulfilling life. His death is a loss to the country.”
Tinubu said that the country should learn Saraki’s political strategy and maturity. “The ability to create a political platform that endures is part of his legacies. He understood the country’s political terrain so much and that made him contribute greatly to the evolution of democracy and sustenance of welfare programmes.
“We have lost a man of immense political strategy at the time Nigeria needs to promote and further our democratisation in a free and fair election that will elect true leaders. As a political leader and philanthropist, his philanthropic character will be immensely missed,” he said.
In its reaction, the South West Chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) described Saraki’s death as a tremendous loss to the nation and Kwara.
The South West Secretary of the CNPP, Mr Austin Nnorom, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that “the late Saraki was a nationalist. A vacuum has been created by his death,” he said.

South Africa issues New Mandela Bank Notes
The government announced the new notes earlier this year on the 22nd anniversary of Mandela's release from prison [Reuters] |
The first banknotes featuring the face of Nelson Mandela, the former South African President, have gone into circulation.
The banknote, launched on Tuesday, is the first South African note to bear the image of a black person, featuring Mandela's image on one side while the other side maintains the "big five" wild animals, already on the bills.
The government announced the new notes earlier this year on the 22nd anniversary of Mandela's release from prison after serving 27 years for his opposition to white-minority rule.
The 94-year-old, who became South Africa's first black president in 1994, rarely appears in public now but is still
revered both at home and abroad and held up as a symbol of freedom, human rights and democracy.
Popularly known by his clan name "Madiba", Mandela has lent his name to roads, buildings and universities, and a giant bronze statue of him in Sandton City mall, Johannesburg.
Reserve Bank governor Gill Marcus was the first to use the new banknotes - she spent 160 rand, about $18, at her local shop in the capital, Pretoria.
"Madiba does represent something special not just in South Africa but in the world," Marcus said.
"He is really an extraordinary man and this is a way in which we pay tribute to him."
The notes also feature South Africa's "big five" wild animals - rhino, elephant, lion, buffalo and leopard.
The new notes will be used in conjunction with the existing currency, which will be gradually phased out.

Story Behind Nigerian Girl Getting New Arms
Ruth is more than a survivor. She’s full of joy, a giggly young woman who hopes to restart her life when she returns home in February with two mechanical arms.
Two years ago, while cleaning tables in her parents’ restaurant in Oga Odan, her hometown, a drug-crazed madman burst in and began stabbing Ruth, hacking off parts of her arms. After an eight-month hospital stay, she returned home, maimed and helpless.
She learned to eat by scooping food with the stump of her left arm into the crook of her right arm. She was forced to abandon plans to study accounting and learn to drive. But Ruth had faith that Jesus would help her. Her faith prevailed. Tunde and Friends Foundation, a nonprofit that supports disabled Nigerians, funded Ruth’s airfare to Southern California and living expenses here.
She’s staying in Colton with Tunde Akinremi and his wife, Titi, the amazing folks who brought her here. Tunde, 57, is himself disabled, a paraplegic who uses a wheelchair. Titi, 58, is a doctor. The married couple have residences both in Colton and in a southwestern city in Nigeria
EXPOSED: Real Reason Why Pasuma, K1 Fell-Out — Omo Banke, K1 Allegedly Slept With Pasuma’s Daughter, Wasilat
Wasilat Olabisi Odetola A.K.A Wassy Pasuma |
While some reported that Pasuma dropped the name due to the treatment K1 gave Pasuma in the build up to Iya Rainbow’s 70th birthday, others reported that there was no bad blood between the two Fuji music icons in the title-drop.
Pasuma had claimed in a report that “”I am old enough to decide on my own; I have served K1 and I have to move on with my career. After all, K1 used to be called Wasiu Ayinde Barrister and when he changed the name, almost everybody hailed him over his decision,” while K1 was reportedly quoted to have said “Do we have to deny anybody the right to change of name? He has been a wonderful and loyal person to me, so I have no hard feelings over the change in title. At least, it will go down in history that he was once Arabambi 2.”

How To Catch Cheating Wife? What Would You Do?
(From a male reader)
I think my wife is cheating on me, but I
don't know how to prove it. She is sneaking around with her cell phone
all the time, which wasn't the case before, She recently met some girls
at her workplace that are half her age, and now she is hanging too often
with them, they go out, get drunk and such, don't get me wrong I get
together with my friends too and we do the same things, but this is very
unusual behaviour for her. We started fighting alot lately about her
friends, I even asked her few times to go "out" with her, which she
refused. Since I am at work whole day, sometimes night shifts, I really
don't know how to prove it, and not to seem like a crazy stoker. Did
anyone had similar experiences? What did you do? What would you do?
The two sides of drug abuse: The startling photos that show the ravaging effects of substance addiction
Many would automatically assume judgements about those caught in the grip of drug addiction.
But one photographer has sought to overcome the stereotypes by presenting both faces of a drug addict - the classic before and after picture.
Using make up, Roman Sakovich showed one half of a face ravaged by drugs, including cut lips, scabbed skin, matted hair.
But he also peeled back the years to show the person before their descent into addiction, showing them in smart clothes with neat hair.
These startling photos, posed by subjects, are part of Mr Sakovitch's 'Half' project, which he created with make up 'in order to explore the outsiders superficial judgement of the same person before and after drug abuse', according to Features Shoot .

Man Confesses To Murder On Death Bed, Survives Heart Attack 2 Face Consequences.
James Washington almost got away with murder. The Nashville man, in
prison on an unrelated sentence, made what he thought was a death bed
confession when he suffered a heart attack, admitting to the murder of
Joyce Goodener on July 5, 1995, according to WSMV. Washington believed
he wouldn’t live to face the consequences. Turns out, he did. Prison
guard James Tomlinson relayed Washington’s confession in court. “He kind
of got as best as he could, motioned, and said, ‘I have something to
tell you. I have to get something off my conscience and you need to hear
this.’ He said, ‘I killed somebody. I beat her to death,’” Tomlinson
told the jury. Washington tried to take back his statement after he
survived the heart attack, but it was too late. He was found guilty late
last month and now faces a life sentence, the Global Dispatch reports.
Washington’s confession puts him amongst the likes of Geraldine Kelly,
Tor Hepso and Henry Alexander, who all confessed to killings on their
death beds. These killers, however, passed on shortly after clearing
their minds.
