Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, speaking during an exclusive interview with The Wall Street Journal in Abuja on Friday, has called on the U.S. to send troops to assist in the battle with Boko Haram.
President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday issued a rare public rebuke of his predecessor, Olusegun Obasanjo, accusing him of attempting to return to power through the backdoor by foisting an Interim National Government on Nigeria, in the hope he will be made head of the administration.

Doyinsola Abiola Hit At 70

An astute journalist and achiever joins the club of elders
On February 1, Dr. Hamidat Doyinsola Abiola joined the club of septuagenarians and could therefore reminisce on the past with a view to guiding the up and coming. Although she would have loved a very quiet and silent celebration, the public eye, being on her projected the event as an uncommon attainment. While it is given for many in the society to attain the age, not many are considered as achievers who have the right stories to tell.
As a journalist, she attained a height that is the dream of many. In 1980, she was appointed the first woman editor of a national newspaper, National Concord. An incredulous public was soon convinced that there is nothing about the office that should make it an exclusive preserve of men. She adroitly ran the newspaper and it became a reference point
Dr. Abiola who obtained a doctorate degree in journalism in 1979 also proved that theory and practice should not always run along parallel lines. She managed the men and resources in the paper in such a way that it became the envy of older newspapers and those who had thought partisan considerations would becloud the writers’ sense of judgement were soon disappointed.

Presidency In Dilemma Over Four PDP Govs’s Secret Alliance With APC/Buhari

With the storm over the shift of polls yet to settle, the Presidency has run into a fix over what to do with four of its governors said to be secretly working for the success of the opposition in the rescheduled elections.
Saturday Vanguard learnt yesterday that the Presidency became convinced that the four governors were not sincerely working for the success of the ruling party after reviewing their activities in relations to the presidential campaigns in their respective states.
It was gathered that an appraisal carried out by security agents and placed at the disposal of the ruling party clearly indicated that PDP would lose election in the affected states because of the activities of the governors.

Should Facebook Have Deleted This Photo of New Mothers and Their Babies?

Outrage: An Arizona photographer was shocked when her photo of women nursing their children was yanked from Facebook despite her having blurred the NSFW parts

"I have been photographing women for 15 years," says photographer Jade Beall, above, "but it was a nude self-portrait I took of myself breastfeeding my son (when I was 80 pounds heavier), that sparked my desire to photograph and celebrate the beauty, 'flaws', shapes, and vulnerabilities of all mothers."
When Beall recently posted one of her group portraits of mothers breastfeeding to her Facebook page, she was overwhelmed with responses.
Arizona photographer saw her photo of breastfeeding women yanked from Facebook after a chorus of male detractors reported them as obscene.

'I received many private messages (all from men) telling me I should remove the photo,' she told Cosmo. When someone, likely one of these men, realized she'd missed blurring one nipple, the photo was taken down.

Revealed: What Jega, Buhari, Babangida, Jonathan and Fashola Actually Said in Council of State Meeting on Election Shift

Before the Council of State meeting, the position of the president, and that of the ruling party, PDP, was that the elections should be postponed. The argument was that by virtue of Section 132 (2) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, there was time to make adjustment.

The Section provides that “an election to the said office (presidency) shall be held on a date not earlier than one hundred and fifty days and not later than thirty days before the expiration of the term of the last holder of that office.” That was the subtext to the Council of State meeting.

Obasanjo’s Endorsement Will Boost Our Chances – Buhari

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election and former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has described the support of former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a confidence booster for him and his party, adding that the action will surely win them more supporters.
Buhari, who described Obasanjo as a well respected Nigerian who many people go to consult before making key decisions, noted that the endorsement of Obasanjo of his candidacy also means that many Nigerians who look up to the former President for direction will follow in line to support his ambition.
The APC standard bearer who spoke yesterday in a media chat with the Cable News Network (CNN) also spoke on peoples’ perception of him as a former dictator who banned political meetings and free speech, detained thousands of people, created secret tribunals, executed people for crimes that were not capital offences, among others.
While not faulting the issues raised about his tenure as a military dictator, Buhari pointed out that what was possible under a military rule could not be contemplated under a multi-party democracy.

New Video: Flavour Featuring Chidinma – Ololufe

The video for Flavour’s new song ‘Ololufe’ is out and he features Chidinma. The video was shot in Cape Town, South Africa and directed by Godfather Productions.

Now this is getting very steamy right here. Check out the brand new video for Flavour N’Abania‘s Ololufe featuring Chidinma. And yes they are actually kissing. We thought getting cozy was suspect, but this right here takes the cake. Now if Chidinma and Flavour have partners I wonder how they feel… but who cares? It’s all acting right? Or is it? What we can say is that there are a lot of men jealous of Flavour right now… and a lot of women are jealous of Chidinma.

President Jonathan Says He Was Not Consulted On Febuary 14 Election Postponement

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan said Wednesday that he was "not consulted" on a controversial decision to postpone national elections, but vowed that the vote would take place and an elected government sworn in on May 29.
Some have accused Jonathan's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of secretly lobbying for the six-week delay out of fear that it was heading for defeat in the polls initially scheduled for February 14.
INEC on Feb. 7 moved national and state elections back by six weeks, to March 28 and April 11, citing concerns that there won’t be adequate security for voting as they step up their offensive against Boko Haram Islamist militants in the northeast.
“I didn’t decide the dates for the elections, I wasn’t consulted, I didn’t want to be consulted,” Jonathan said in an interview broadcast Wednesday on state television. “Elections will be conducted and if I lose, we’ll inaugurate a new government.”

Gynecologist Loses License After Having Sex With Patients Who Asked About G-Spots

The Smoking Gun obtained documents showing that a 48-year-old gynecologist brought two of his patients to orgasm in order to show them where their G-spots were. The State Medical Board of Ohio stripped Dr. Kurt Froehlich of his license.
The first time Froehlich sexually assaulted a patient was in 2010. "Patient 1" was a medical professional Froehlich had worked with about three times a month. The first time she came to him as a patient, she waited until after the regular gynecological checkup had concluded to ask questions about arousal and her G-spot. Instead of drawing a picture to demonstrate, Froehlich put a glove back on and "just show[ed] her basically where it is." Froehlich says he "did not stimulate her to orgasm that time."
According to the documents, the next time he met Patient 1, he did stimulate her to orgasm.

15 Stunning Photos Of Parents And Their Kids Resemblance At The Same Age

Hearing you look JUST like your mom or dad is not everyone's favorite compliment. Yet, there are times when the resemblance is just uncanny, and one cannot help themselves in pointing it out. Jonathan Inviting Military Coup On Nigeria, Says Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has raised fears that the political posturing of President Goodluck Jonathan – using the military to delay scheduled election – might invite a military coup on the country.
“The signs are not auspicious,” Mr. Obasanjo told the Financial Times in an interview in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital. “I don’t know whether a script is being played.”
“I sincerely hope that the president is not going for broke and saying ‘look dammit, it’s either I have it or nobody has it’. I hope that we will not have a coup . . . I hope we can avoid it.”

Nigerian Military Dismisses Coup Fears

The Nigerian military has dismissed fears that it was planning to truncate the country’s democracy, maintaining that it would remain “apolitical” despite the “palpable tension”. Messages have been circulating on the social media that the military was ready to take over from President Goodluck Jonathan rather than allow Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to win the presidential election.

How Obama Undermines Goodluck Jonathan and Works for Buhari

The United States of America has condemned the rescheduling of Nigeria's general elections from the initial dates of Saturday 14 and Saturday 28 of February 2015 to Saturday March 28 and Saturday April 11, 2015.
That country’s secretary of state, Mr John Kerry, has described the postponement as “unacceptable”. Its position is apparently informed by the assurances earlier given by President Goodluck Jonathan during a recent visit to Nigeria by Mr John Kerry, that the polls would not be postponed under any circumstances.
However, the position of the US with respect to Nigeria’s polls, particularly the shift in dates, is curious, given that the Boko Haram insurgency and related insecurity in the country remain the reason for the development. It is recalled that the US had earlier denied Nigeria critical military assistance to combat the wave of insecurity when such was needed most.

Obasanjo Endorses Buhari, Warns Against Coup Says - "He is Smart Enough. He is Educated Enough, He’s Experienced Enough. Why Shouldn’t I Support Him?”

After months of berating the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has declared his support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
Obasanjo, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, made his opinion known during an interview with the Financial Times at the launch of his controversial autobiography titled, ‘My Watch’, in Nairobi, Kenya.
Obasanjo said Buhari, who ruled Nigeria between December 1983 and August 1985, was aware of the challenges of Nigeria today and was qualified to rule the country.
He said, “The circumstances he (Buhari) will be working under if he wins the elections are different from the one he worked under before, where he was both the executive and the legislature – he knows that. He is smart enough. He is educated enough. He’s experienced enough. Why shouldn’t I support him?”

Jega Not Going On Terminal Leave – INEC

INEC Chairman: Attahiru Jega: not going on terminal leave

The spokesman for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr. Kayode Idowu, has debunked reports that INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, would proceed on terminal leave on 1 March this year.
Idowu, who spoke on a TV programme monitored in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, on Tuesday, said Jega’s appointment was not guided by civil service rules and so he would serve until his tenure elapses on 30 June this year.
After the postponement of the elections last weekend, there have been reports that President Goodluck Jonathan’s next move is to relieve Jega of his job and replace him with a pliant person to conduct the elections.

Obama's Media Team Responsible For APC's "CHANGE" Campaign - Washington FB

A political consulting firm founded by Obama administration confidante David Axelrod has been far more involved in backing controversial Nigerian presidential candidate Gen. Muhammadu Buhari than previously disclosed, according to a series of emails obtained by the Washington Free Beacon and interviews with sources on the ground.

Axelrod’s firm, the Chicago-based AKPD, has admitted to doing work on behalf of Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC) party in the past, but claimed to have ceased its ties in March 2014 after the Islamist terror group Boko Haram kidnapped hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls.

EXCLUSIVE: Presidency Angry With Jega For Blaming Poll Shift On Security Chiefs

An uneasy relationship now exists between presidency and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the reason adduced for the adjustment of the general election dates,

Information indicates Attahiru Jega, a professor of political science and INEC chairman, had attributed the shift in dates from February 14 and 28 to March 28 and April 11 respectively to a letter written by the military over its “inability” to provide security for the elections because of ongoing operations against Boko Haram in the north-east.

But a presidency official who spoke with TheCable at the weekend said Jega was being “clever by half” and was attempting to “pass the buck” in order to cover up for INEC’s poor preparations for the elections.

Jonathan Only Wants An Election Where He Is Guaranteed Victory, Says Tinubu

Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed the reason given for the postponement of the election, accusing Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), of acting out a script. He alleged that Jega was hiding under the guise of insecurity to safeguard the interest of the federal government.

“What happened Saturday was actually not a postponement due to security or logistical reasons. What happened was the by-product of overt political interference undermining the independence of the election management body, INEC,” he said in a statement. “Jega said he hinged his decision on a purported letter stating that due to an impending offensive, the security agencies would not have the personnel to spare to adequately guard the polling areas in the northeastern states. “It is nothing but a lie draped in a falsehood born by deceit. It was not done for the national good. It was the wrong thing done for the wrong reason by the wrong man.

Ekiti Polls: Appeal Court Reserves Judgment against Fayose

A court of Appeal Sitting in Ado Ekiti has reserved judgment over an appeal suit filed before it by the Ekiti State All Progressives congress against Peoples Democratic Parties Governor Ayo Fayose.
The appeal is challenging the victory of Governor Ayo Fayose in the elections held in Ekiti state on June 21, 2014.
Recall that the Ekiti state election petitions tribunal on December 19, 2014 dismissed a petition brought before it by Dr. Kayode Fayemi, praying that Fayose was not qualified to contest the election having been impeached as the governor of the state in 2006 among others.

Combat-Ready Soldiers Mass at Tinubu’s House

For three straight days, the private residence of the national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, has been under surveillance by battle-ready and helmet-wearing soldiers. Numbering close to thirty and riding in three patrol vans and an army trucks stationed close to the entrance of the gate to Tinubu’s house along Bourdillon Road in Ikoyi, they have become a permanent feature.
Their obvious target is Tinubu himself and perhaps the hordes of politicians and visitors that visit his Bourdillon residence.
The soldiers were first noticed on Sunday a few minutes to 11pm in an army truck. They stationed about 500 meters away from Tinubu’s gate.
Later they moved close to his gate as if making efforts to enter. The stern looking soldiers were around for hours on Sunday and returned on Monday to continue their surveillance.
On Monday night about 10.45pm, they returned to the residence in two army vans and were there throughout the night. Some of the soldiers discharged from the van and walked back and forth in front of the house and around the house in what is clearly some casing effort.
This morning, Tuesday, two vans from the army were stationed on both sides of the house along Bourdillon, road their missions shrouded in secrecy.

Nigeria Elections Will Not Be Postponed Further, Dasuki Vows

Nigeria's general election will not be postponed past March 28, National Security Advisor Sambo Dasuki told AFP on Monday, after he successfully lobbied for a poll delay because of Boko Haram violence.
"Those dates will not be shifted again," Dasuki said when asked if the polls, initially scheduled for February 14, could be pushed back further.
Dasuki urged election officials to postpone the vote on the grounds that the military could not provide nationwide election security because all available resources were being deployed to the northeast to fight Boko Haram.
