Authorities say three pieces of debris that washed up on a West Australian beach are not linked to missing flight MH370.

he three objects, one the length of a car with "distinct rivets", washed ashore 10km east of Augusta, about 320km south of Perth.
The debris was found by someone who was walking on the beach a few days ago and who notified police yesterday.

While the items recovered had initially appeared exciting Australian Transport Safety Bureau spokesman Martin Dolan told ABC radio this morning the items had not come from the missing plane.

"We've carefully examined detailed photographs that were taken for us by the police and we're satisfied that it's not a lead in the search for MH370," Mr Dolan said. "From our point of view, we're ruling it out."
"We'll get some further details just to be sure but at this stage we're not seeing anything in this that would lead us to believe that it comes from a Boeing aircraft."
Prime Minister Tony Abbott said yesterday the search would continue while there was a reasonable hope of finding something.
"Australia will not rest until we have done everything we humanly can to get to the bottom of this mystery," he told reporters.

Policeman Rapes, Impregnates Pastor’s 13-yr-old Daughter

A police sergeant (names withheld) has been arrested in Anambra State for allegedly raping a 13- year-old daughter of a popular pastor at Nkpor in Idemili Council Area of the state. The young girl, said to be two months pregnant told her parents last Saturday who was responsible for her pregnancy.

According to a close family source, who does not want to be quoted, the girl told her parents that the policeman had threatened her against telling anyone about the affair. The source said the threat made her keep the secret until few days ago when she complained to her mother about some symptoms, which after thorough investigation led to her confession of being pregnant.

A desperate Moroccan father, Ayham Kanaan, has been arrested by Spanish custom officers after he was allegedly found hiding his 8-year-old daughter, Haniya Kanaan, in a suitcase.
According to police reports, Ayham, 38, was caught trying to smuggle his daughter into Spain so that she can stay in the country.

It was gathered that Customs officials found Haniya curled up inside a small suitcase after her single father entered Spain on a legal work permit through the Andalusian port of Tarifa.

Surjit Singh Virk has been driving buses for sixteen years and has seen it all. But what he witnessed on Saturday on the No. 341 route touched his soul in a way that he's never experienced before.
A man sat alone on the bus with two plastic hairnets covering his feet instead of shoes. Another passenger, upon noticing his footwear, promptly took off his shoes and socks and gave them to the stranger, hopping off the bus barefoot, reports the Toronto Sun.

“It made my heart melt,” Virk explained to QMI Agency. “He just took his shoes and socks off and said, 'You can take these, don't worry about me — I live close by and can walk.'"

When reached by phone, the kind-hearted man asked QMI Agency not to identify him, because his Muslim faith teaches that charitable acts should be anonymous. He is a 27-year-old resident of Surrey, British Columbia in Canada and was coming from the nearby B.C. Muslim Association mosque.

The generous act has elicited incredible response online. "We are all one family, if anyone in our family was without shoes and we had ample, this is exactly what we would do. Once in a while we need this reminder to save our humanity," said Facebook user Baljit Sabharwal.

Five students of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of a 19 year old Nigerian student Godwin Ayogu, who was also a student of the university. Unfortunately, all the students arrested are Nigerians, worst still, they were his friends. There was pandemonium, yesterday, at Idi-Oro area of Mushin, Lagos, as hoodlums from the notorious hotspot of Akala attacked residents of Railway Line and New Balogun Street, Idi-Oro, leading to the death of two of the attackers from Akala.

In the process, some residents from Railway Line and New Balogun Street repelled their attack, forcing them to beat a retreat.

The hoodlums, however, later regrouped and staged another attack which lasted four hours.

More than 10 houses along the Railway Line and New Balogun were looted and some of their female occupants raped.

Chinese are infamous for bad construction quality. Several buildings have collapsed during the past couple of years. But have you ever heard of a building toppling over? Well, A building toppled over in Shanghai in 2009. The building was new and still under construction so, luckily, no one was injured, but there was still one fatality. Considering the large scale destruction, the loss is very minimal but still sorrowful. It was reported that a problem with some nearby flood prevention walls at the Dianpu River cause the building to fall over, but there is no hard evidence to support the claim as of yet. I am Chief Suleiman Omiyale, the Balogun of Ibadanland. I am the Ekeji Olubadanland. I am the Olubadan-in-line. Though I don’t like talking about my age but I am in my 90s. You know they hardly kept record when we were born, but I am fortunate to have one. I hail from Baale Ope Ape compound. I became Mogaji of my compound in 1967. From Mogaji I became Aregbe-Omo in 1972. I was fortunate to jump 6 steps.

Why did you jump 6 steps?

Well, if I have to follow the step from Mogaji, you will become Jagun, Ajia, Bada, Are-Onibo, Gbonka. I was opportuned to jump these because of destiny. Those people died and I moved up the ladder. So it was a vacant stool. This was the same stool which was vacant and Kabiyesi became Olubadan. He was Ekarun Olubadan but 4 stools were vacant and he became the Olubadan. The 4 stools were Fijabi Otun Desaro-Osi, Lija-Akande, Akilapa. You became Olubadan by destiny.

A regular visitor to the home of Mr Selekeowei Olokumo, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria’s South-South region, would probably have noticed a small make shift building directly opposite his one bedroom apartment which could easily be mistaken for a generator cage.

To think it is a place where he stores his old and worn out property would not be out of place, as it was haphazardly built with wood and carton on what could be seen as a semi refuse dump site.
It was a feeling of shock when Channels Television realised that it was not for keeping his generator or other items but where his 16-year old daughter, Blessing Olokumo, had called home for almost three years.
Blessing is the 6th out of the 16 children of Mr and Mrs Olokumo; a twin who has no relationship with her twin sister, not because her twin sister was dead. she is simply ashamed of being associated with her.
She is not leprous, neither is she affected by any contagious disease. She is just a child who had convulsion when she was three years old and was not properly monitored by the medical doctors, so instead of outgrowing it as most children of her age would probably have done, she has since been battling with the condition.

The story began in an obscure room in England. The ignominious fall of the Abacha junta foreshadowed a new era in Nigeria. David Moyes has been sacked by Manchester United with immediate effect.

Chief executive Ed Woodward arrived at Carrington at 8am on Tuesday morning to inform the Scot face-to-face of the news.

Moyes had already been informed of his fate and thanked club staff at the training complex in anticipation of his departure. The players were not present at the time.

Ryan Giggs will take temporary charge for the rest of the season as interim manager.

The Makoko slums exist in their own peculiar world. Dubbed - with a heavy sense of irony - the Venice of Africa, the oily waters provide a way of life for the fishing community but also the greatest dangers, spreading disease through the cramped population.

Sprawling out from what was originally a small village in the 18th century, it has been consumed by Lagos, Nigeria's largest city. But, a warren of twisting canals and puffed-up gangs, it's somewhere even police hesitate to tread.

However, after more than a century of being left to its own devices, local officials have suddenly taken a keen interest in the slum.

Safety nets for the poor and displaced in the country are so lacking that, months later, many of those made homeless by demolition are still living in their boats

Last year, declaring the centuries-old community illegal, government officials scheduled it for demolition and sent men with chainsaws to storm the waterways. They cut through the stilts suspending dozens of homes, schools and churches above the water, leaving them to collapse into the murky depths.

Safety nets for the poor and displaced in the country are so lacking that, months later, many of those made homeless by this assault are still living in their boats, open to the elements and floating between the ramshackle piers.

Ironically, Nigeria's success is to blame for Makoko's demise. The country is one of the richest in the entire continent, second only to South Africa, and the chugging engine of this growth is Lagos - the city alone has a larger economy than Kenya.

An ex-NYPD cop accused of shooting his wife in front of two of their children called her a “whore,” but said he’s “sorry” and that her infidelity drove him to kill, a prosecutor revealed Sunday.

Kevin Canty, 43, made a stunning confession moments after blasting his wife, Jessica Mera, 10 times with a 9-mm. pistol Saturday morning, authorities said.

“I’m sorry,” Canty told a detective driving him from the Queens crime scene to the 102nd Precinct stationhouse for questioning.

“I love my wife. She was cheating on me,” Canty told the detective, a prosecutor revealed at his Easter Sunday arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.

Canty, who retired from the force last year on disability, called his wife a “whore” for having sex with a man he identified to the cop, the prosecutor said. “I know I’m going to jail,” he reportedly said.
