2 Nigerian Students Back Home After Over A Year In Hiding In Canada

2 Nigerian girls who have been in trouble with immigration authorities in Canada since June 2012 after they were caught working in Walmart.
The girls, who were students of University of Regina, had student visas which only permitted them to work only on campus and not outside. They didn’t know working outside campus was not permitted under the terms of their student visas and when they were caught, they were put under a deportation order. (Read the full story here)
Victoria Ordu and Favour Amadi (pictured above), have been in hiding for more than a year and took refuge in four different city churches hoping that the Canadian authorities will forgive them…but that didn’t happen. The authorities refused to budge and the girls had no choice but to return to Nigeria. They left Saskatchewan yesterday Friday Oct 18th. They were scheduled to get on a plane to Nigeria last night, so they should be here by now..
According to the BBC, the University of Regina President, Vianne Timmons, was at the airport to say good-bye to the ladies. Timmons said the girls left voluntarily in the hope that doing so would allow them to return to Canada later. The University is vowing to help the students come back.

Disquiet In Okusanya (MIC) Family As Unknown Wives, Children Surface

As the family of late Mr. Tunji Okusanya Snr, Managing Director, MIC Funeral Services, battles to get over the tragedy that befell  them by the ill-fated Associated Airlines plane crash that killed him and four of his workers, some unknown women have surfaced in the family claiming to have children for the deceased Okusanya Snr.
LEADERSHIP reliably gathered from members of the family that sought anonymity that the women and children were never introduced to other members of the family by the late Okusanya.
The family member said follwing the demise of the philanthropic director of the foremost undertaking company in the country, Magbamowo Industrial Company (M.I.C.), four other women apart from his legitimate wives have showed up as his wives
“I am surprised because he did not tell or show the wives and children to his friends and family members as it has turned out to be. But such an incidence cannot be ruled out considering the status of the MIC boss.
“He lived a larger than life lifestyle. Women chase such people who are successful, even if they do not chase the women. It is not a crime to have many children and we do not count children in Africa,” said a close family member.
He urged the senior family members to conduct DNA test on the children if they doubt their paternity.
LEADERSHIP Friday learnt that with the present development, the total number of children fathered by Okusanya outside his matrimonial home and the ones that are known to the family member stands at nine children, including a two-month-old baby.
This revelation took many of his family members by surprise as none of them has admitted being aware of the existence of other women and children.

Nigeria Ex-education Minister, Ruqayyatu Rufai Joins ASUU Strike

The immediate past Minister of Education, Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufai, who was sacked from the federal cabinet last month, has joined the ongoing strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, which she desperately tried to break while in office.
Enquries at Bayero Universities, Kano, BUK where Mrs Rufai was teaching Education Curriculum before joining the Jigawa State cabinet in 2007 and later the federal cabinet in 2011, revealed that although the former minister had returned to the institution, she was yet to commence work as a result of the ongoing industrial action.

Public Relations Officer of BUK, Mustapha Zaharaddeen, told this newspaper in a telephone interview on Wednesday that the former minister had joined her colleagues in the strike.

TRAGEDY: Survivor Of Associated Airlines Crash To Have Her Fingers And Toes Cut Off

Unless the Federal Government urgently intervenes to fly Mrs Quinneth Owolabi abroad for treatment, she would have her toes and fingers amputated due to gangrene infection.
Mrs Owolabi is a surviving cabin crew on the ill-fated Associated Airlines plane that crashed in Lagos two weeks ago.
But for her husband’s resistance, the amputation would have been done yesterday or today at Nigerian Air Force, NAF, base hospital in Ikeja, where she had been hospitalised since the crash.
Mrs. Owolabi survived the crash alongside six others, although two of the survivors later died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH.

Yinka Ayefele's Band Boys Disappear During US Tour?

As gospel music styled secular singer, Yinka Ayefele arrived the country Tuesday, following a six-week musical tour of the United States, there are reports that some of his band boys might have disappeared during their tour of United States, thus affecting the emotion of the artiste, whose fulfilment of the concert was partially shattered by the disappearance of three of his band boys.

The other members of the group arrived amidst cheers by fans, but one could tell that the leader of the band was worried; perhaps knowing the credibility question the defection by the boys could pose to his career. Reports say the ‘gospel tungba’ crooner, has written to the United States Homeland Security to track and deport the three guys who defected at the tail-end of the inter city concert.
The band left the country on September 2, performing at Washington, Maryland, Baltimore, New York, Atlanta, Houston and Dallas.

ASUU STRIKE UPDATE: Lecturers Reject New N600bn Offer

Varsity teachers remained adamant last night, saying their strike would go on, despite the government’s shifting of its position. The strike has been on for four months.

More cash has been pledged for projects on the campuses. Besides, the earned allowances due to the teachers have been increased from the initial N30 billion offer, which the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) rejected. The teachers are insisting on the 2009 agreement, which they say President Goodluck Jonathan was part of. Besides, they say, they do not trust the government.

According to a circular by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, to the staff of the school, quoted yesterday by the news website, Sahara Reporters, the government has pledged to spend N200 billion on the universities in the 2014 budget and the same amount annually for the next three to four years.

This is in addition to the N100 billion already made available this year, but which ASUU has rejected.

You Can Defect, PDP Dares Rebel Govs

National Chairman, PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur

The Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday said it would not compel any of its members to remain within its fold.
It said while it would prefer to dialogue with the aggrieved members to resolve any outstanding issues, it recognised that there was no compulsion in political party membership.
The party was reacting to a threat by some of the governors to defect to the opposition All Progressives Congress if the crisis within the party persisted.
National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, told our correspondent over the telephone that the party was a democratic institution made up of individuals who chose to be members on their own free will.
He said, “We want them to remain in the party. We will want to work with them and resolve our issues; but we are in a democracy and in a democracy membership of a party is a choice freely made.”
Metuh however declined further comments when asked to speak on the state of the peace process which was suspended on October 7, 2013.

A popular Blogger, Stella DimoKoKorkus says"The Minister of aviation is busy buying bullet proof cars to protect her PO from her imaginary enemies whilst the aviation sector where she chairs is in ruins and killing people by the day...
Perhaps, she is too busy to conduct a proper on ground check of  airlines and their fleet of dead and run down aeroplanes. Should someone who has lied and misled the public about a common bullet proof car be allowed to handle a sector as big as aviation?"

A Malaysian court has ruled that a Christian newspaper may not use the word “Allah” to refer to God, a landmark decision on an issue that has fanned religious tension and raised questions over minority rights in the mainly Muslim country.
The unanimous decision by three Muslim judges in Malaysia’s appeals court overturned a 2009 ruling by a lower court that allowed the Malay-language version of the newspaper, The Herald, to use the word Allah – as many Christians in Malaysia say has been the case for centuries.

Nipple On The Foot – 22-Year-Old Brazilian Woman Possesses A Third Nipple On Her Foot.

Okay.  Chandler Bing had his nubbin.  Zac EfronMark Wahlberg, and Lilly Allen have third nipples too.  This condition known as supernumerary breast tissue usually occurs along the “milk lines” of the body.  You know–in the boob-al region.
It has been recently discovered, however, that a 22-year-old Brazilian woman actually possesses a third nipple of her foot.  A condition that I call Nipple Foot.  Apparently, this misplaced nipple has been there since birth and doesn’t cause the woman any pain at all.
Talk about a conversation starter.  ”Wanna see my nipple? Just a sec.  I’ve got  to take off my socks.”

Following confirmation by aerial reconnaissance (actual fact), up to eight DNR agents and four sheriffs raided the Society of St. Francis, a “no kill” animal shelter in Wisconsin (actual fact).  They were looking for a fugitive baby deer the shelter volunteers had named “Giggles” because of the “laughing” sounds it made when excited.
"Giggles" could not elude armed federal agents.
“Giggles” could not elude armed federal agents.
Brought in by a family who thought the fawn may have been abandoned my its mother, the shelter had planned to take the deer to a wildlife rehabilitation center in neighboring Illinois the next day.
Unfortunately, the feds move fast when they are on an important public safety mission.  The twelve heavily armed, swat-like thugs were in no mood for taking prisoners.  After harassing other animals and humans, who had been harboring the fugitive fawn, the diminutive beast was confronted and, apparently refusing to surrender, was shot and killed.

Heavily Pregnant US Woman Participate In Basket Ball Game (Photo+Video)

The Minnesota Lynx swept the Atlanta Dream Thursday night to clinch their second WNBA championship in three years, led by several dominant performances from 31-year-old, eight-months pregnant Rebekkah Brunson.
Brunson, a 6-foot, 2-inch tall, 215-pound power forward who recently entered her third trimester, averaged 26 points and 14 rebounds in the series and was by all accounts the Lynx’s biggest threat on both ends of the floor.

“Rebekkah was really the difference-maker, there’s no question about that,” said Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, adding that Brunson’s low-post game has drastically improved since putting on 40 pounds over the past few months. “She did it all—blocking shots, snagging rebounds, and absolutely dominating in the paint. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player just blow through the lane like that. No one could guard her.”
