Lagos APC Primary: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Meets Tinubu's 'Anointed' Sanwo-Olu (Photo)
Just after Dr. Femi Hamzat, one of the Lagos State governorship aspirants seeking to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced his withdrawal from the race to support Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the duo have met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The meeting held on Saturday afternoon at Ikoyi, Lagos.

Osun Election: Our Deal With Omisore, By Oshiomhole
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has said that the party did not offer Senator Iyiola Omisore any financial inducement to gain his support during the rerun election conducted on Thursday, adding that the former Deputy governor never made any demand.
Oshiomhole also gave reasons why the party disqualified the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Aisha Jummai Alhassan from contesting the governorship elections primary in Taraba state, saying the party was not convinced about the loyalty of the minister to the party.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja, the former Edo State governor said the party gave Senator Omisore the opportunity to sponsor candidates to contest elections on the APC platform, stressing however that those saying the APC offered him money was out of place.

As gathered, the offence of the suspended members of Lagos APC was suspicion of forming an alliance with the Action Democratic Party (ADP) to bring the ruling party down, both in the state and at the federal level.
Others on the suspension list include Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Muslim Folami, House of Representative Member, James Falake, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Matters, Babatunde Quadri, Lagos State House of Assembly Members, Segun Olulade and Tunde Braimoh.
Passenger Crashes Into Ocean In Micronesia But All 47 Passengers And Crew Miraculously Survive
A plane has crash-landed in the ocean after overshooting a runway on the tiny island of Weno, north-west of Papua New Guinea.
Local authorities confirmed the airliner - which was en route to Papua New Guinea from Micronesia - missed the runway and crashed into the water around 9.30am Friday local time.
Miraculously, all 35 passengers and 12 crew members are alive, but the plane was completely submerged and one passenger was injured.
Locals rushed out to the scene of the crash on small boats to help rescue passengers, who escaped the aircraft and were standing on the wings.

A clear winner emerged yesterday in the Osun State governorship election at the close of the second ballot which held in seven units across four local government areas of the State of the Living Spring.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered enough votes to knock off the 353 votes the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led with at the close of the first ballot early Sunday morning.
After the collation of eligible ballot by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC candidate Gboyega Isiaka, with 254,345 votes, was trailing PDP’s Isiaka Adeleke, who polled 254, 696.

Omisore Joins APC Stalwarts For Celebration At Osun Govt House.
The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and other well-wishers for celebration at the Osun state government house as they wait for the official announcement of the gubernatorial election result after today's rerun which is said to favour the APC candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.
Gboyega Oyetola is leading in three out of the four local government areas where the rerun election held after the collation of results at the various polling units.
My Osun Rerun Observations, By US Consul General
United States Consul General in Lagos F. John Bray, who was in Osogbo to monitor the rerun election, has described the process as credible.
He said he did not observe any malpractices or violations of the Electoral Act in Unit 17, Ward 5 where the rerun election took place.
Bray was at the unit from the morning when voting started till result was announced at about 3.50pm.
Asked about his observations, he said: “The process has been credible.”
On allegations that some voters were denied access to some units by thugs, Bray said: “There are things going on in six other units. I cannot comment on those things.
“I’m here as an observer today. All I can talk about is what’s in front of me. And today in Osogbo its working fine.
APC Governors Celebrate At Osun Govt House After Rerun Election.
Gboyega Oyetola, is leading in three out of the four local government areas where the rerun election held after the announcement of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Oyetola swept the two polling units in Ile-Ife. In Ife south, Oyetola got 283 votes, while Ademola Adeleke, the PDP candidate, got 15 votes. In Ife north, APC got 126 votes, while Adeleke got just two votes.

‘'Coup’, Going On In Osun, Not Election - Adeleke Cries Out
PDP governorship candidate in the Osun state rerun election, Ademola Adeleke, as described as a "coup'' the ongoing election in the state.
Speaking to Punch, Adeleke said PDP members in the state were being harassed.
“What is happening in Osun State now is not an election. What we have is a coup. That is what we are witnessing now. Our supporters are being harassed and are not allowed to vote at all. Let the whole world know that this is not the democracy, ” he said

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the result in Unit 17, Ward 5, Osogbo.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 299 votes.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 165 votes.
The final result was announced at 3.48pm.
Osun Election Rerun 2018: APC Records Landslide Win In Ife South
The All Progressive Congress (APC) has been declared winner of Polling Unit 012 in Olode Ward of Ife South Local Government Area in the Osun State governorship supplementary poll held on Thursday.
In the inconclusive election held Saturday, Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) scored 254,698 votes to beat his APC rival, Gboyega Oyetola, who polled 254,345 votes.
The electoral commission, however, declared the election inconclusive because the margin of 353 votes between the two leading parties, PDP and APC, was less than the number of cancelled votes (3,498) in seven polling units where results were cancelled across four local governments.

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has slammed the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore, for declaring his support for the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of Thursday’s governorship rerun in Osun State.
Omisore had on Thursday announced his decision to pitch his tent with the APC after consultations with his party members.
He was reportedly quoted as saying, “After due consultations with my party leadership and members in all the 30 local government areas of Osun State, we have accepted to support the APC for victory in the rerun election tomorrow and thereafter form a coalition government.”

Tension As Military Replaces Police For Osun Election Rerun
There is palpable tension in Osun ahead of the rerun election slated for Thursday, as hundreds of military personnel replace police to provide security during the exercise.
Our reporter on Wednesday morning observed heavy deployment of military men in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, and Ifon, in Orolu local government, while several other military vehicles were moving towards Ile-Ife.
A reliable security source told our reporter that the decision to change the security architecture of the state against the Thursday’s rerun election was mandated from the “top” to give some level of leverage to the ruling party.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed former Senator representing Lagos East senatorial district, Senator Olorunimbe Mamora, as the Managing Director, National Inland Waterway (NIWA), ThisDay has reported.
Announcing the appointment in a letter from the Federal Ministry of Transportation dated September 24, 2018, and with reference number: T.4316/S.63/T/111, the Permanent Secretary, Mr Sabiu Zakari, said Mamora’s appointment was with immediate effect.
The letter reads: “President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has approved your appointment as the Managing Director of National Inland Waterway (NIWA) for a term of four years in the first instance and renewable for one further period of four years only in accordance with part IV of the NIWA Act CAP. N47 LRN 2014.”

Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor, a retired justice from Nigeria’s Court of Appeal, assumed the office of his country’s ambassador to the United States on November 13, 2017. It’s Nsofor’s first ambassadorial posting.
Nsofor was born March 17, 1935, in Oguta, Imo State, Nigeria. He graduated from London’s now-defunct Holborn College of Law in 1962 and added an LL.M from the London School of Economics in 1964.
He began teaching at Holborn College of Law in 1964 and went into private practice the following year. In 1977, he was appointed to the bench in Nigeria and served as a judge of the Imo state High Court.
