Nollywood Most Passed Around Yoruba Actresses
According to what Pearl Magazine reported in this week's edition of their issue, they brought smiles into the faces of their fans; they mesmerized faithful of Yoruba movies. Many stay glued to their television sets for hours forgetting that they have some other pressing issues to tackle.
These are what actresses in the Yoruba motion pictures did to some of their addicts. They also x-rayed happenings in the society and pass on vital messages about life to the people watching them. But in their closet, some of them are the direct opposite of what they preach.
Many have faulted these actresses on their dirty lifestyles especially with the way they try to live fake lives, but some believe the media may have over exposed to them.
In this week’s edition, we are x-raying top most passed around Yoruba actresses. Let the game kick off.
Amazing Dog Still Attends Daily Mass At Church Where Dead Owner Used To Go (PHOTOS)
Ciccio, a 12-year-old German shepherd, whose owner passed away two months ago, visits the church she used to frequent and where her funeral was celebrated, patiently waiting for her to return.
The people attending the church of Santa Maria Assunta in San Donaci, Italy have received a lesson in love and loyalty from a dog that for the past two months has been coming in for the daily mass, hoping his beloved owner would return. Local Maria Margherita Lochi, 57, had adopted Ciccio years ago, after she found him abandoned in the fields near her home. She was an animal lover who had taken in several stray cats and dogs, but her connection with Ciccio was special. Apparently he felt the same way, as even though Maria died two months ago, the dog keeps coming back to the place he last saw her.
She would walk with him to the church, for the daily Mass, and the priest would allow him to wait patiently at her feet. He was even there with Maria’s loved ones at her funeral. But Ciccio seems to have a tough time letting go, and he comes back into the church each day, as soon as he hears the bells calling in the faithful for the Holy Mass. He just sits by the side of the altar, quietly, hoping Maria will come back…

Would-be Assassin Aims Gun At Bulgarian Opposition Leader's Head And Pulls The Trigger; Leader Survives After Weapon Misfires (PHOTOS+VIDEO)
A Bulgarian politician today survived an extraordinary assassination attempt when a man stormed the stage and held a gun to his head as he was giving a speech.
Fortunately for Ahmed Dogan, leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, the weapon misfired giving him time to react and hit the would-be assassin's hand out of the way.
Before he could attempt a second shot the unidentified suspect was tackled to the ground by security guards and delegates attending the conference in Sofia.
Shocking Earnings Of Yoruba Movie Stars
Quite a number of perks come with being a movie star
in this part of the world. They include designer clothes, luxury cars
and posh apartments. Apart from their penchant for such status symbols,
today’s Nollywood actors and actresses are also seen as role models,
especially to the young and impressionable who dream of becoming stars
some day.
But, judging by the results of a recent investigation
conducted by Saturday Beats, it appears all that glitters is not gold,
after all.
Contrary to popular opinion, the life of the average Yoruba movie star is that of constant ‘suffering and smiling’.
In spite of the fabulous profiles and immense
goodwill enjoyed by some of these celebrated screen gods and goddesses,
the contents of their bank accounts are really nothing to be cheerful
about.
Even the ‘alarming’ increase in the volume of home
video films produced in Yoruba language ought to be sufficient to
improve the bank balances of such celebrities. To make matters worse,
many of them suffer from a financial disease known as ‘Withdrawal
Symptom.’ In fact, it is no longer news that a good number are regular
visitors to ATMs.
"My First Introduction To Sex Was Rape By One Of Our Tenants" -- Nollywood Actress Foluke Daramola
Popular Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola, takes ADEMOLA OLONILUA through the journey of her life
Why I am more into movie production than acting
I am a person that is very restless in
nature. I have been acting for over 18 years. I feel that it is becoming
monotonous for me; doing the same old thing over and over again,
despite the fact that creativity is dropping by the day. I still do a
bit of acting; it is just that I am more of a production person. I am
even derailing a bit back into doing English soap operas which was what I
started out from. I started with soap opera and English movies before I
delved into Yoruba movies.
Competition from upcoming actors
The only thing that is constant in life
is change. If you do not look beyond and think outside of the box, you
are going to box yourself in the corner. What I mean by that is that
there is no how you would not grow. There is this proverb that says you
have to take a bow when the ovation is loudest. Taking a bow doesn’t
mean leaving the scene; it means you should go and re-strategise and
find ways to work around things that would make you relevant. There is
no way I would say my younger colleagues should not grow. I started out
when I was a teenager and I have had my fair share of the industry. I’m
still having it. I’m still staying relevant. The only thing you can do
is just to make yourself relevant. A threat from the younger generation
is not one that relates with me. I am not one that would sit in a
corner. A lot of my colleagues ask why I read so much. I just had my
masters degree, I am going for my Ph.D. I believe in dynamism and
upgrading myself at every point in time so nobody is a threat to me.

Make-Up Mistakes That Adds 10-Years
Mistake #1: Using Too Much Foundation
A foundation that's too thick will settle into fine lines and sap the luminosity from your skin. "Only use foundation where you need it to even out discoloration," says makeup artist Frances Hathaway. "You don't have to cover every inch of your skin." When buying a foundation, avoid those described as "matte," "velvet," and "long-wearing"; look for sheer liquid formulas with light-diffusing pigments. (A great option: Chanel Vitalumiere, $55; chanel.com.) If you have dry skin, foundation can look patchy and accentuate discoloration, so exfoliate two to three times a week and always apply a moisturizer after cleansing. Hathaway's favorite moisturizers to use under foundation: Aveda All Sensitive Moisturizer for combination or normal skin ($33; aveda.com) and Weleda Skin Food for dry skin.

Pop math quiz: If you cherished and maintained the same
car for 63 years and you changed your own oil every 3,000 miles, how
much money would you save?
Answer: A lot.
Just ask Margaret Dunning, a 102-year-old Michigan woman who’s been making headlines after her energetic appearance at a classic car show in Canton, Ohio, over the weekend. Dunning attended the show with her baby: a 1930 Packard 740 Roadster that she purchased in 1949 and restored to mint condition. She talked happily about how she’s been changing her own oil and spark plugs all these years.

Emerging African Music Business is Great Source of Money, Talent
After long-term challenges with widespread piracy and a widely
disparate radio and record industry, a burgeoning legitimate music scene
is fast emerging on the continent of Africa.
An expanding middle class, a fast-growing population with more than 65 percent under age 35, and digital startups helping to leapfrog infrastructure weaknesses are making major African cities emerge as not only sources of great local talent that can go global in a meaningful way, but also markets and venues for U.S. and other global artists touring and selling their music.

South African Singer Lira to Offer Memorable Show at Obama Inauguration
South Africa’s Lira will be one among many performers at Barack
Obama’s inaugural celebrations Monday, but she is determined to be
remembered for a performance to rival another star who serenaded another
president.
The multiplatinum artist hopes to give Obama and other guests at the Ambassadors’ Inaugural Ball in Washington something as memorable, but perhaps not as racy, as Monroe’s “Happy Birthday, Mr President” 1962 enticement to JFK.
“We all remember how she sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to the president,” said the 33-year-old, whose real name is Lerato Molapo.

U.S. Recognizes Somalia For First Time in 20 Years
Somalia remains a blighted image in the minds of most Americans,
based on the ugliness that occurred there in 1993 when dead Americans
soldiers were dragged through the streets — events portrayed in the film
“Black Hawk Down.” But the Obama administration now seems to feel
Somalia’s dark days are over. The nation’s president, Hassan Sheik
Mohamud, was welcomed at the White House yesterday and the U.S.
recognized the government for the first time in 20 years.
The World's First Life-Size Chocolate Car; That You Could Actually Drive It. (PHOTOS)
Philadelphia based sculptors Jim Victor and Marie Pelton decided their next project would speak to the world through the sweet tooth. Their goal was to create a chocolate sculpture that no one had ever seen before. Let me tell you, at least I have never seen a chocolate car before, and for sure not a life-size chocolate car. The cool thing about it is that you “could” actually drive it. That is if you could see through the windshield.
Sunset On Planet Mars (PHOTO)
Image: NASA/JPL/Texas A&M/Cornell |
On May 19th, 2005, NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Spirit captured this stunning view as the Sun sank below the rim of Gusev crater on Mars. This Panoramic Camera (Pancam) mosaic was taken around 6:07 in the evening of the rover's 489th martian day, or sol.
Spirit was commanded to stay awake briefly after sending that sol's data to the Mars Odyssey orbiter just before sunset. This small panorama of the western sky was obtained using Pancam's 750-nanometer, 530-nanometer and 430-nanometer color filters. This filter combination allows false color images to be generated that are similar to what a human would see, but with the colors slightly exaggerated. In this image, the bluish glow in the sky above the Sun would be visible to us if we were there, but an artifact of the Pancam's infrared imaging capabilities is that with this filter combination the redness of the sky farther from the sunset is exaggerated compared to the daytime colors of the martian sky.

YOU once said growing up in Mushin must have been a rough and tough time for you. How rough exactly was your childhood?
Talking
about rough, there is something about Mushin that people run away from.
Being a Mushin person, people don’t usually want to associate with you
or give you things. When someone asks you where you are from and you say
Mushin, they don’t want to have anything to do with you. But I saw it
as a challenge. When I was a young boy, I attended Muslim Mission
Primary School. Afterwards, I moved to Nigeria Model High School, Idioro
also in Mushin. I decided that I wanted to get out of the place and
make people know that it is not only rascally people that come out of
Mushin. If we can talk of someone like Honourable Funmilayo Tejuoso,
Honourable Ganiyu Solomon, Honourable Muiz Bamire all from Mushin making
a difference, I determined that I could do better than they did. And
thank God, for where I am today and I am proud to say it anywhere that I
am from Mushin.
Breaking News: President Jonathan Makes Unscheduled Visit To Police College In Lagos.
On the way to an ECOWAS meeting in the Ivory Coast, President Goodluck Jonathan's plane was diverted to Lagos where he made a surprise visit to the police college in Ikeja. Sources say that even his top aides were taken unaware by the unscheduled stop.
The police authorities were also caught unawares and had in fact rented the college to host a private wedding, which is illegal. President Jonathan demanded that the top brass explain these actions to which they had no sufficient answers. Upon hearing this the President immediately commenced an inspection of the college, starting with the student hostels where he discovered dilapidated conditions including no beds and toilets in the rooms.
At the time of this report, the inspection is on-going. President Jonathan is moving from hostel from hostel on his inspection of the college.

Father In Gambling Debts Sells His Three Kids To Pay Off His Debts.
A lorry driver deep in gambling debts sold three of his children to pay off his creditors.
The children's mother, Liew Kim Yow, 27, said the 25-year-old man, whom she referred to as her “boyfriend” because they were not legally married, had suggested in September that his mother take care of their two sons, aged one and three and their five-year-old daughter, while they went to Singapore to work.
They have been living together in Serendah, Hulu Selangor, for seven years.
Liew, who is unemployed, stayed at home to take care of the children while the man worked as a lorry driver.
But after three months, she suspected something amiss because their plans to move to Singapore did not materialise and he kept giving excuses each time she wanted to see their children.

Handle it she did _ by appearing on television specials and in the news, and talking about the condition that left her face misshapen and gave her chronic growing pains.

Armless Jessica Cox: ‘ I fed my hubby our wedding cake with my foot!’
When Jessica Cox was born without arms, doctors had little hope she would ever live an independent life.
But she’s proved them wrong again and again. When Closer met her three years ago, she’d just become the first person in the world with no arms to get a pilot’s licence, flying an aeroplane with her size 6 feet – aged just 26.
Now 29, she’s reached another milestone and tied the knot with her boyfriend of two years, karate instructor Patrick Chamberlain.
Jessica, from Arizona in the US, used her foot to put Patrick’s wedding ring on his finger. She says: “My wedding day was a dream come true. I didn’t know
if anyone would ever love me. The next step is to have a baby.”
When Jessica was born in 1983, doctors were unable to explain why her disability hadn’t been picked up on ultrasound scans. Devastatingly, her parents, nurse Inez, 62, and musician Bill, 72, were told she’d always be dependent on them.
But Jessica soon proved the doctors wrong. Instead of crawling, she shuffled around on her bottom at five months
old and, by the time she was 18 months old, she could walk.
Aged three, she mastered using her feet to wash and feed herself – now she can even put in her contact lenses with her toes.

Gov. Yakowa And Gen. Azazi Died While Plotting Against Northern Muslims -- Sheik Gumi
Police detectives are studying audio and video tapes of the sermons in
which Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi, asserted that the
late governor of Kaduna State, Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa perished along
with former National Security Adviser, General Andrew Azazi while
strategizing against Northern Nigerian Muslims, a top security operative
has told SaharaReporters.
Gumi allegedly affirmed that Yakowa had been engaging in an anti-Muslim agenda, and that it was therefore necessary to avoid the emergence of non-Muslims as governor of Kaduna State in the future, a point that some senior citizens of Kaduna State raised in a detailed memo in which they expressed concern that Gumi’s weekly sermon was likely to cause serious ethno-religious crisis in Kaduna town.

Facebook Unveiled New Social Search Tool
Facebook has unveiled a new search feature which is likely to
increase competition with review websites such as Yelp and Google.
'Graph search' allows users to gain recommendations and reviews by searching their social connections for information on people, interests, photos and places rather than links to sites available across the internet.
"Graph search is designed to take precise query and return to you the answer, not links to other places where you might get the answer," said Mark Zuckerberg, the chief executive and founder of Facebook.
"What you've seen today is a really different product from anything else that's out there," he added.
The tool, which was launched on Tuesday, will gradually be available to all Facebook users and marks the popular social networking website's biggest foray into the online search market.
Zuckerberg addressed potential privacy concerns by stressing that users can sort through content that has only been shared with them.

Kim Kardashian Reveals Her Bossom In Daring Veil Styled Gown For Arabian Luxury Women's Magazine Hia
It's certainly not a look we've seen on Kim Kardashian before.
The reality star swapped her usual fashion for a series of veils as she took part in a cover shoot for Arabian luxury women's magazine, Hia.
But while she may have been veiled, Kim was certainly not demure. In a video of the shoot she unwraps her conservative outer gear to reveal a daring plunging gown which shows off her breasts.

Photos: Deplorable State Of The Nigerian Police College, Ikeja
The Nigeria Police College, Ikeja, Lagos State is the first in the country. In a recent video report by ChannelsTV, the very deplorable situation of the College is shown in the following images. While posting this, I cannot but wonder what our leaders have been doing. It is a big shame indeed upon the Nigerian government and all their supporters.
Iyaniwura brings to you some of the pictures of the college. You will see the male dormitory 10, constructed in 1940 by colonial masters with its incredibly hellish looks (yes, it looks like hell). The toilets are abhorent and the bathrooms? I wonder how they manage to take their baths in there.
You will also see some students urinating at the back of the building where the drainage system has broken down completely. More Pictures after the cut.....
