Deportation of man with children in UK was 'disproportionate', court rules

Deporting a Nigerian man who has a criminal record but whose children live in Britain, was “disproportionate” and not “necessary in a democratic society”, the European court of human rrights has ruled.

Judges in Strasbourg found that the removal of Charles Unuane violated his right to family life as guaranteed by article 8 of the European convention on human rights.

Unuane, 57, whose appeal was supported by the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants, was awarded €5,000 (£4,447) . The court did not make an order for him to be returned to the United Kingdom.

Relatively few UK cases are reaching the ECHR at present but legal arguments over the scope of article 8 and the right to family life remain issues where the government and Strasbourg judges are at odds over legal interpretation.

Biden won 306 state-by-state electoral votes, well over the 270 needed for victory, to Trump’s 232. Biden also holds a lead of more than 6 million in the national popular vote.

Niger Republic Imported Onions ‘Turn Gold’ As Floods Ruin Harvest In Nigeria - Bag Of Onion Now N90,000 From N30,000

Onion is the new gold — this expression has become popular on social media recently due to the scarcity of the vegetable.

Onion is a popular vegetable used in Nigerian homes for culinary and beauty purposes. However, it has become a topic for jokes after a sudden scarcity led to a hike in prices.

The bulb onion is mainly cultivated in Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, Plateau, and Bauchi states.

The pocket of the average Nigerian seems to be under attack given the price hike that comes with Christmas festivities combined with fluctuating petrol prices due to deregulation and food inflation that hit 17.38 percent in September.

The U.S. State Department said the temporary final rule, which takes effect Dec. 24 and runs through June 24, targets countries whose nationals have higher rates of overstaying B-2 visas for tourists and B-1 visas for business travellers. The Trump administration said the six-month pilot program aims to test the feasibility of collecting such bonds and will serve as a diplomatic deterrence to overstaying the visas.

What you CAN and Can't DO under new lockdown: Pubs, shops, restaurants, hairdressers and leisure centres will close - but construction sites stay OPEN

A new national lockdown across England means people must stay at home unless for specific reasons, such as attending school or college or going to the supermarket.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the new measures at a Downing Street press conference on Saturday.

He said the measures were necessary to avert bleak predictions of 85,000 deaths this winter.

When do the new rules come into force?

The new national lockdown will run from Thursday, November 5 until Wednesday, December 2.

The lockdown will then be eased on a regional basis according to the latest coronavirus case data at that time.

PM Announces Second Lockdown To Avoid 'Medical And Moral Disaster': Non-Essential Shops Will Shut And Travel Is Banned Under Restrictions That Start On THURSDAY And Run For A Month with furlough scheme EXTENDED

After weeks insisting he is sticking to local restrictions, Boris Johnson completed a humiliating U-turn by announcing blanket coronavirus restrictions for England at a prime-time press conference alongside medical and science chiefs Chris Whitty and Patrick Vallance. The PM said the draconian measures - which come into force from midnight Thursday morning - were the only way to avert bleak Sage predictions of 85,000 deaths this winter, far above the previous 'reasonable worst case', and the NHS being swamped before Christmas. Another 326 UK fatalities were declared today - nearly double last Saturday's tally.

But infections, which can represent the current situation more accurately, were down five per cent on a week ago at 21,915 in a possible sign that the rise could already be slowing. The brutal squeeze - billed as 'Tier Four' on the government's sliding scale - will see non-essential shops in England shut until December 2, as well as bars and restaurants despite the 'absolutely devastating' impact on the already crippled hospitality sector. Households will be banned from mixing indoors during the period, and people will be told not to leave home and travel unless for unavoidable reasons, such as work that cannot be performed remotely, or to take exercise. However, unlike the March lockdown schools and universities are expected to remain open - despite unions warning, they are key to the spread.

He hacked sacristan Vincent Loques, a 54-year-old father-of-two, to death as he prepared for the first Mass of the day, while a mother in her forties also succumbed to her injuries after seeking refuge in a nearby bar after telling paramedics: 'Tell my children that I love them'.

The assailant was shot 14 times and wounded by armed police as he screamed 'God is greatest' in Arabic during the attack and 'while under medication' as he was taken to hospital, Nice's Mayor Christian Estrosi said. Investigators found two unused knives, a Koran and two mobile phones, in addition to a bag with some personal effects. He was unknown to French security services. Number of Britons hospitalised with coronavirus soars 25% in a DAY as Britain records 14,542 new cases and 76 more deaths

The number of Britons in the hospital with coronavirus (pictured: A graph showing the data) has soared by 25 per cent in a day, new data has today revealed, as figures show the UK has recorded 14,542 more infections - more than triple the number from a fortnight ago. In another blow to hopes the virus is being brought under control, official NHS data shows there were 478 new hospital admissions in England on Sunday - the most recent day figures are available for.

The figure is 25 per cent increase on Saturday's data when 386 people were admitted to the hospital with Covid-19. It also represents a four-month high, the likes of which have not been seen since June 3, when the figure was 491. The latest surging stats come as coronavirus cases continue to rise in the UK, with 14,542 new cases recorded today - meaning the number of people testing positive for Covid-19 every day has tripled in a fortnight. Last Tuesday's data, which would normally be used to measure how much the UK's outbreak has grown in the last week, is unreliable due to a catastrophic counting error at Public Health England. It means Tuesday September 22 is the most recent point of reference - there were just 4,926 cases on that date

Reactions As Comedian, Mr Macaroni Shares “Freaky” Picture Of “Mummy Wa” On Birthday

Skit maker Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, caused a stir on Twitter on Tuesday after posting a birthday message to his co-star Kemi Ikuseedun, alias Mummy Wa.

“Please kindly wish Mummy Wa a happy birthday for me,” the comedian wrote.

“God bless you and take you to greater heights Kemi. You are loved.”

The message was accompanied by a picture showing Kemi’s generous bosom, a clear departure from the demure character she plays in the Mr Macaroni comedy series.

Kemi had shared the picture on social media in April.

“I can be freaky,” she wrote back then.
