The Kansas Supreme Court on Friday overturned the death sentences of two brothers convicted of killing four friends who were robbed and forced to engage in sex acts before being shot to death and left in a snow-covered Wichita field.

The court also struck down three of the four capital murder convictions each against Jonathan and Reginald Carr, citing procedural problems at the brothers' joint trial for its decisions. It upheld one capital murder conviction for each of them.

Prosecutors said the brothers broke into a Wichita home in December 2000 and forced the five people there to have sex with each other and later to withdraw money from ATMs. Two women were raped repeatedly before all five were taken to a soccer field and shot while they were kneeling. Four of them — 29-year-old Aaron Sander, 27-year-old Brad Heyka, 26-year-old Jason Befort and 25-year-old Heather Muller — died.

13 Suspects Arrested For Visa Fraud In Lagos

OPERATIVES of the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi , Lagos State,  have arrested desperate Nigerians, who were allegedly  involved in visa fraud in their attempts to travel out of the country.

Woman Gives Birth to Baby With Four Legs In Rivers State Nigeria

A middle aged woman has given birth to a baby with four legs in Aboridendeme-Ama community in Okrika Local Government area of Rivers State.

Hospital source where the woman delivered the baby, however, told newsmen that the baby died shortly after its delivery.

ANOTHER NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY STUDENT ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY KILLING OWN FATHER

An undergraduate of Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State, Chijioke Ezebuiro, was paraded yesterday July 22nd by the Abia State Police Command for allegedly killing his 87 year old father, Dr. Emmanuel Ezebuiro. This sad event comes barely three weeks after 21 year old Tolani Ajayi killed his 60 year old father inside the Redeemed Christian Church of God campground. While parading Chijioke before newsmen, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna said Chijioke is the chief suspect in his father's death because he was the only one around when the deceased was brutally murdered on June 30th at his home in Umuoriehi, Isingwu in Umuahia North LGA of Abia state. According to his elder brother's statement to the police, Chijioke had often threatened to kill their father. The elder brother said he left their father and Chijioke at home to drop off his children at school only to return to find their father in the pool of his own blood.

Her boyfriend also received the same penalty after he showed the image to his friends following an argument, it has emerged.
Nottinghamshire Police said the pair committed the offence of ‘distributing an indecent image of a child’ because both were under 18.
It means that underage boys and girls might themselves end up on the sex offenders’ register.
The two teenagers’ exact ages were not released by police.

Police Nab 3 Armed Robber For Car-Snatching in Lagos

 

Three members of a notorious robbery gang that specialised in snatching cars from residents of Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah axis of Lagos State, have been arrested by anti-robbery policemen attached to Bar Beach Police Station.

Vanguard gathered that the robbers, who have been terrorizing the area for a long time met their Waterloo separately on Saturday and Monday nights when they snatched two taxi cabs from their owners at gunpoint.

Sources disclosed that the bandits had attempted to use the snatched cabs to steal exotic cars.

A source, who spoke with Vanguard on condition of anonymity, said one of the suspects, Rasheed Yusuf, 20, was arrested when the anti-robbery policemen on patrol, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Adegoke Fayoade, accosted the gang after they snatched a taxi from it owner on Idejo Street, Victoria Island and recovered the taxi, but two other gang members managed to escape.
