A Nigerian man who is alleged to have swallowed hard drugs while being chased by South African police, died in the Kempton Police station where he was taken to after he was arrested today. Many Nigerians residing in South Africa staged a protest in front of the police station today to demand justice. They believe that he was tortured to death.
Some Nigerians say contrary to what is being reported, the young man had a passport that was to expire this January and out of fear, started to run from the police. They say the police officers caught up with him, beat him up and then took him to their station where he died. However an autopsy to show whether he truly swallowed any drug is being awaited.

A Georgia lottery winner was killed during a home invasion at his south Georgia home, the AJC reports.

Craigory Burch Jr., who won $434,272 in a Fantasy 5 drawing in November, was shot and killed when intruders broke into his home in Fitzgerald, GA. on Thursday.


Burch, 20, and his girlfriend were inside the home at the time of the break in. She escaped and ran to a neighbor for help, according to WALB-TV.

Violent Thamesmead London Sex Attacker Oluwadamilare Baiyewu Sentenced To 24 Years

A man who raped one woman and tried to attack another while stalking the same area in Thamesmead has been jailed.

Oluwadamilare Baiyewu, 22 (10.11.93) of no fixed abode was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday, 21 January to 24 years imprisonment after being found guilty of multiple offences against two women in December 2014. He is to serve a minimum of 16 years in prison and will then be on licence for eight years

Baiyewu was arrested after the two women were attacked near Binsey Walk, Thamesmead.

Police linked two incidents which occurred in that area after the second woman was raped on 9 December.

In that incident, the 17-year-old victim got off a bus at around 19:00hrs and was grabbed from behind by a man. He put a knife to her throat, threatened to kill her and marched her into a secluded area.

He then raped her in a violent attack.

NHS Psychiatrist In The UK Sacked For Rcommending TB Joshua's Emmanuel TV To Patient

According to UK Daily Mail,  NHS psychiatrist in the UK Dr Julius Awakame, 50, has been sacked after he advised a patient to get help from TB Joshua's 24-hour church TV channel, Emmanuel TV because she might be possessed by demonic 'special forces'. 

Dr Julius recorded medical notes diagnosing the woman as having a history of 'satanic ritual abuse' and said her issues could not be addressed by regular treatment. 

So instead he told her to watch Emmanuel TV, adding: 'neither psychiatry not psychology would be able to help because there are special forces at play.'
 

The woman - known as Patient A - claimed Awakame also told her to get 'nice holy water' before 'switching off' during the consultation at a health centre in Harwich, Essex.

When community psychiatric nurse Martin Rowe later quizzed Awkame whether she she was possessed, the medic replied: 'She may well be' and claimed she had been thrown out of her local church due to her condition.

The doctor's employment with the North Essex Partnership Foundation Trust was terminated the following month.

EFCC Arraigns Metuh In Handcuffs For Destruction Of Evidence

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will today arraign the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja for charges bordering on destruction of evidence.

Metuh, who has been on remand in prison, pending when he would fulfil the bail conditions imposed on him by a Federal High Court in Abuja with respect to the charges of money laundering involving N400m, part of funds meant for procurement of arms which he allegedly collected from the office of the National Security Adviser in November 2014.
‎Metuh allegedly tore his written statement and attempted to chew it while he was being investigated for the money laundering case.

Nigerian University Orders Over 460 Students To Withdraw Over Poor Academic Performance With Cancellation Of Pass Certificates By NUC

The Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna in Niger, has withdrawn 460 hundred level students following “very poor’’ performance in the just-concluded academic session.

According to Mrs. Lydia Legbo, Information Officer of the University, the students’ performance was not acceptable, hence the decision to ask them to go.

She told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Tuesday that the institution could not violate the National Universities Commission (NUC)’s guidelines in respect of minimum standards.

She added that students were warned to be dedicated to their studies when they were offered admission.

Lassa Fever Claims 63, Spread To 17 States

The Federal Government said on Tuesday that Lassa fever has claimed 63 lives out of 212 suspected reported from 62 local government areas in affected states. 

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, confirmed this at the emergency National Council of Health meeting in Abuja on the outbreak of the disease.
