The insistence of Imo State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha and his Ogun State counterpart on fielding their choice candidates as governorship flagbearers in their respective states despite the position of the All Progressives Party, APC, finally met a brick wall yesterday with the party’s refusal to recognise their candidates.

Specifically, the party’s decision practically dealt a mortal blow to the scheming and horse-trading over the determination of the governors to ensure that their candidates were given the tickets to contest governorship elections in Imo and Ogun states.

At the same time, the APC dismissed the decision of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, barring it from having a governorship candidate in Zamfara State over the failure to meet the deadline for the submission of candidates’ names.

Our attention has been drawn to another phantom story, alleging that there is an ongoing rift between Prince Dapo Abiodun and Senator Buruji Kashamu over a refund of 3 billion naira allegedly given to Senator Kashamu by Prince Dapo in order to influence the outcome of a Supreme Court case, instituted against the gubernatorial candidature of Hon Ladi Adebutu.

This is another height of falsehood being spearheaded by desperate politicians just to play politics of hatred and sow a seed of discord between Prince Dapo Abiodun, Hon Ladi Adebutu and Senator Kashamu. There is no iota of truth in the write-up and it should be dismissed by the public as another rooster and bull story.

At no point did Prince Dapo Abiodun have any personal encounter with Senator Kashamu for any purpose relating to the lies embedded in this fabricated story, which primary intention is to mislead and deceive the good people of Ogun State.

Many residents and visitors to Lagos often do not see Oshodi beyond the clumsy activities that go on in the various garages and parks scattered around the flyover bridges as well as the petty trading by roadsides and within the parks. The anti-social behaviour of miscreants otherwise known as ‘Area boys’ in Oshodi added another dimension to the notoriety that Oshodi environ was known for

Therefore, when Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode in 2016 announced that traders, commercial buses operating within the parks around Oshodi bus-stop and the park managers, the NURTW would have to give way for a modern transport interchange, it was a good relief for some residents thought it was like taking the means of livelihood from those who were trading and providing some transportation services within Oshodi main bus stop.

2023 Presidency Fashola Can’t Decide Our Fate —Ndigbo

Not minding the discordant tunes being played by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and scheming regarding which geopolitical zone would produce the president in 2023, mainstream Ndigbo appears unperturbed. They insist they would decide their fate.

In fact, a very reliable source at the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, confided in The Guardian that the body was not swayed by ongoing antics as it would soon meet to reveal the path the Igbo would thread regarding the forthcoming 2019 general elections and beyond.

Last Thursday, Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, at a town hall meeting urged the people of South West to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 elections in order to guarantee a return of power to the region in 2023. This view runs contrary to that canvassed earlier in the year by the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SFG), Boss Mustapha when he promised that the APC would ensure that Igbo produced the president in 2023 should they support the second term aspiration of Buhari.

Atiku was said to have promised about five people from the zone the same position but settled for Obi without running it by the others.

Thus, rather than elicit excitement, Atiku’s eventual pick of Obi caused unexpected rage among the political elite in the South-east, as a majority of them considered his decision without consulting a betrayal.
