Reports gathered reveal Governor Rochas Okorocha of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Imo State might have 10 more statues of eminent political figures to unveil. 

After unveiling the statues of two African presidents, Jacob Zuma of South Africa and Ellen Sirleaf Johnson of Liberia, Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha is set to unveil 10 more statues.

Even though his actions had generated lots of controversies, Saturday PUNCH learnt on Friday that the governor would soon unveil more statues.

The chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Itse Sagay, says the man who blew the whistle on the N13bn found in an Ikoyi apartment is not “sufficiently stable” to handle his N860 million reward. 

Reacting to the alarm raised by the whistleblower’s lawyer on the delay in paying his client’s reward, Sagay said the man will “almost run mental” if the money is paid to him without proper measures. 

He said the government is trying to provide the whistleblower with counselors and consultants that will help him plan on how to invest the money. “What I gathered from my inquiry is that the man is not sufficiently stable to receive such a huge sum of money.

President Robert Mugabe on Friday attended the graduation ceremony of Zimbabwe Open University in the capital Harare, his first public appearance since military takeover earlier this week.

The 93-year-old arrived at the ceremony, dressed in a blue academic gown and tasseled hat.

The Army generals took over late Tuesday after vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa was sacked and Mugabe’s wife Grace emerged in prime position to succeed her increasingly frail husband.

21-year-old Adetokunbo Jordan Ajobo died after being stabbed in Newham, London. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, after being attacked by a group of men in Pier Road, North Woolwich, Newham.
A statement issued by the Metropolitan Police on Thursday, said officers were called by London Ambulance Service to reports of a man stabbed in Pier Road. E16 at around 20:10hrs on Wednesday, November 8.
Officers attended the scene and found Ajobo,  suffering critical injuries. Officers administered first aid prior to the arrival of London Ambulance Service.

Mugabe Reportedly Agrees To Go On Exile After Military Coup


President Robert Mugabe last night  reportedly agreed to step down. This comes after conflicting reports that he refused to step down.

A new government is to be formed within 48 hours, a twitter handle claiming to be speaking on behalf of the provisional government of Zimbabwe said.Mugabe will then proceed on exile to South Africa.
Fresh elections will be held in the spring of 2018 once order and peace have been established.

Harare, Zimbabwe (CNN)Zimbabwe's embattled President Robert Mugabe has been shown in talks with the commander of the country's defense forces, a day after the military seized control of the capital.

Photographs published by the pro-Mugabe Herald newspaper are the first images of the veteran leader since he was placed under house arrest Wednesday morning. Among the group of people in the photos is a priest, reported earlier to be brokering talks for a transitional government.
In the images, Mugabe appears calm as he talks with army leader Commander General Constantino Chiwenga, the man who warned the President on Monday that the military would intervene if party infighting continued.
The Herald's editor, Caesar Zvayi, also tweeted the images.

According to the US Attorney's office for Oregon, a Nigerian man, Michael Oluwasegun Kazeem, 24, has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for his role in the bilking of over $11 million via an identity-theft scheme from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). 

Kazeem, who came to the United States on a student visa, has been sentenced in federal court in the southern Oregon town of Medford on Nov. 8 for conspiracy to commit mail fraud, aggravated identity theft and mail fraud.

The Lagos State Government has taken on the National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Muiz Adeyemi Banire, over allegation that the government was planning to demolish the house of his mother, Alhaja Sarat Banire, within 48 hours.
Banire in a statement on Wednesday from Saudi Arabia, where he is on lesser hajj, said officials of the Lagos State Government have given his mother 24 hours to produce proof of the plan of the house or risk it being demolished.


But the State Government in a statement by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Anifowose Wasiu Abiola, said Banire erred in his position and must follow the laid down rules and regulations to avoid falling a victim of the law.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday night wept while describing the report that Nigeria’s are being auctioned as slaves in Libya under President Muhammadu Buhari’s watch as horrific.
Atiku in a press statement described his shock when watching the CNN news report, which showed video evidence of Nigerian illegal migrants en route to Europe captured by Libyan authorities, being sold off for various amounts in the range of $400.
“It is sad and unbelievable that such horror scenes which belong in the darker pages of the history books, could be re-enacted in this day and age,” he said.

According to him, going to the villa was like going to jail, given the way his movement would be monitored and he would need to sign various forms before he could go out, for security reasons, adding that he loved to be free and he wasn’t the type to sit in one place and be watching television under heavy security.

51-Year-Old Mother Of Three Pleads Guilty To Distributing Child Pornography In Dublin

51-year-old Jadesola Agbalade forwarded a child pornography clip which showed a child being raped, a Dublin court has heard.

She pleaded guilty to one count of knowingly distributing child pornography on July 20, 2016. Garda Enda Ledwith told Karl Finnegan BL, prosecuting, that he arrested a man in Dublin Airport in July 2017 in relation to credit card fraud.

That man's phone was investigated and the child pornography clip was discovered. The court heard the clip showed a child between the ages of two and five being raped by a man.

Upon further investigation, gardaí discovered it is an international clip that has been in circulation since about 2014. Gardaí traced the phone number from which the clip was sent back to Agbalade.

The Nigerian military is set to end the admission of female cadets into the combatant course of the Nigerian Defence Academy, in a major policy reversal.

A set of 20 females, nicknamed Jonathan Queens, were first admitted into the course in Nigeria’s premier military officer training institution during the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in 2011.

it was learnt that the recommendation to end the programme was made by the Armed Forces Council which was inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari last week.

Buhari had also last week ratified the National Defence Policy 2017 (Revised); Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service Officers 2017.

The corpse of one Mr Ahmad Adekunle Abdulsalam, a member of staff of the College of Education, Oro in Irepodun local government area of Kwara State, who was killed by lightning on September 21,2017, was exhumed, last Tuesday, and mysteriously found still fresh 49 days after he was buried.
 
According to Vanguard, the corpse was promptly removed from the Christian cemetery and taken to the Muslim cemetery along Yidi Road where it was reburied according to Islamic rites.
 
On that fateful day, Abdulsalam, aged 47, who hailed from Ilesa in Osun State, was said to have dashed out of the Registry Department of the college, where he worked, to get a document in the Examination Office nearby during a down pour when he was struck by lightning and he died instantly.
 
After the death, traditional worshippers in the town were said to have insisted that, in order to avoid mysterious deaths in the victim’s family, his corpse must be buried without removing the clothes he was wearing when the tragedy struck, while also performing some rites.
 
The traditionalists, it was learnt, requested for N100, 000 from the family for the rites, which was promptly paid.

Why This YABATECH Graduate Committed Suicide Barely Two Weeks To Commencement Of His NYSC



Barely two weeks to the commencement of his NYSC, a graduate of the Yaba College of Technology, Oluwamuyiwa Oluwagbemileke, aka Spartacus, ended his life. 
The 27-year-old graduate of electrical engineering reportedly took a poison on Wednesday after he was blamed for damaging a car in a sachet water factory in Ojodu Berger, Lagos, where he worked. 
Punchng learnt that he had hit the vehicle on another one on the factory premises while trying to help the owner re-park it. He was said to have become desperate to raise N50,000 to repair the damaged car. 
He was buried on Saturday at the Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos. His nickname, it was learnt, evolved from his determination to become a graduate, which made him to engage in one menial job or another to sponsor himself. 
His elder sister said, “I passed out when I was told he poisoned himself. His neighbours said they received a message from him, saying he wanted to poison himself, but they did not take him seriously. 
His girlfriend said he was gasping when she called him around 11pm. Our mother said he typed the suicide note on his phone in her presence but she did not know the content because she has no formal education. 

Two Men Behead 17-Year-Old Girl Hawking For Money Rituals In Ogun State


Two suspected ritualists have been arrested by men of Ogun State Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old girl, Taye Gusau, in Idosemo, Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
After killing her, they decapitated the body, cut off the hands and intestines. It was gathered that the suspects, Yewanu Tailoju and Asamo Soji, lured the girl, who was hawking puff-puff (doughnut) after school, into the bush and murdered her.

Betty Akeredolu, wife of the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has disclosed that she only has one breast.

Betty, in a interview with Punch, revealed how she cut off one of her breasts in order to survive cancer.

According to her “It was after the examination that the doctor again confirmed there was a lump. Even at that stage, he didn’t know what it was.

Twenty-four soldiers killed last week, another six or seven a fortnight ago. And, oh, about one month, ago 30 soldiers were slaughtered in an ambush and the enemy proceeded to make gory videos of this killing, to be posted on YouTube.
What does all this mean? Simply put, Nigeria is at war! Yet, the Army hierarchy is in denial. Apparently so, because of the photo-shoots, we see of the Chief of Army Staff paying courtesy visits to political appointees in the midst of all the slaughter.

‘Ikoyi Whistle-Blower Will Be Paid This Month’ – Kemi Adeosun

Following claims by Ikoyi Whistleblower’s lawyer that he has not been paid after sharing an information that led to the discovery of N13bn, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, in a statement released on Sunday said the whistleblower will be paid this month.

A Nigerian Army Staff Sergeant, Silas Ninyo (93NA/36/2608), shot dead Captain T. Mani, who stopped him from beating innocent civilians in Chibok, Borno State, and four others before taking his own life on Sunday.                        

An Army situation report (No.64) exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters stated on Sunday afternoon that a team of soldiers, led by one Captain T. Mani (N/14430), was providing security for worshippers during Sunday service in Chibok and received a distress call that Staff Sergeant Ninyo was beating civilians for unknown reasons.   

MAN MURDERS AUNT WHO REFUSED TO GIVE HIM RENT MONEY


A 22-year old man, Peter, and his accomplice, Istafanus Yerima, 22, have been arrested by the police in Abuja, for allegedly stabbing Peter’s aunt, Salome Idoko, 35, in the sitting room of her residence close to Berger Bridge Quarry Gate, Mpape, Abuja. .

.The FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abubakar Bello, told Sunday Sun that the ugly incident happened around 1:35pm on September 28, when Peter, a nephew of the deceased and his friend, Istifanus, went to the home of the aunt to threaten her and demand N30,000 from her to pay his rent.
