Trump axed Iran deal to spite Obama: How the British ambassador called the President's actions 'diplomatic vandalism' fueled by 'personality reasons'

Trump axed Iran deal to spite Obama: British ambassador says Trump's actions 'diplomatic
Donald Trump (main) abandoned the Iran nuclear deal as an act of 'diplomatic vandalism' to spite his predecessor Barack Obama (inset), according to then-British Ambassador to the US, Sir Kim Darroch (left). Sir Kim, in a bombshell memo to Downing Street, said that the president abandoned the deal for 'personality reasons' and suggested there were splits among his closest advisors, including Mike Pompeo (bottom right) and Mike Pence (top right). Sir Kim's claim is the latest revelation from

The Mail on Sunday's explosive cache of cables and briefing notes which sent shockwaves around the world and forced the ambassador's resignation last week. The shocking new revelation comes after Scotland Yard threatened to prosecute the Mail on Sunday for publishing the documents. Sir Kim's Iran memo was sent in May 2018, after Boris Johnson - who was then Foreign Secretary - had been dispatched to Washington to make a last-ditch plea to President Trump not to abandon the nuclear deal with Iran designed to prevent the regime from building an atomic bomb.

Britain unveils its own tax on digital giants: Hammond risks clash with Trump after the US President threatened tariffs on France for introducing a similar levy

The tech giants have massive revenues in the UK but pay small amounts of corporation tax by transferring sales abroad - Britain wants to start taxing an addition 2% on these revenues, which would be worth hundreds of millions to the taxpayer
Britain is on a collision course with Donald Trump today after unveiling a 'digital services tax' to grab £400million-a-year more from global tech firms such as Amazon, Google, Apple and Facebook.
The UK is pushing ahead with plans for a proposed two per cent levy on sales starting next April targeting online giants with global sales of more than £500million and at least £25million in UK revenue.
Amazon, Google, Apple and Facebook would need to pay an extra £300million a year, MailOnline has calculated, with up to 30 companies needing to pay.
Britain wants more cash from major search engines, social networks and online marketplaces who use legal loopholes to ensure their UK profits are taxed in countries such as Ireland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands at a lower rate than in London.

President Donald Trump abandoned his controversial bid to inject a citizenship question into next year's census Thursday, instead directing federal agencies to try to compile the information using existing databases.

He insisted he was "not backing down," declaring in a Rose Garden announcement that the goal was simple and reasonable: "a clear breakdown of the number of citizens and non-citizens that make up the United States population."

But the decision was clearly a reversal after the Supreme Court blocked his effort by disputing his administration's rationale for demanding that census respondents declare whether or not they were citizens.

In a bid to boost tourism to the country, South Africa is finalising a number of visa waiver agreements with other countries, allowing travellers to enter the country without a visa.

This announcement was made by Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba on Tuesday in Pretoria.

Citizens from countries which will now no longer require a visa to travel to SA include Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Iran, Lebanon, the State of Palestine, Belarus, Georgia, and Cuba.

These countries join the UK, US, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Australia, Brazil and Canada whose citizens already have visa waiver agreements.

Despite being part of the top 10 overseas tourism market, nationals from China and India still require a visa to visit SA. Gigaba, however, said his department is simplifying visa requirements for these countries.

The Ruga Settlements Policy

In the pursuit of better livestock management, every Nigerian who is interested in cattle rearing must be considered, writes Sufuyan Ojeifo

The ballyhoo over “ruga settlements”, which the Ministry of Agriculture wanted to mischievously deploy in supplanting the original and scripted National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP), was a measure of Nigerians’ edification, intelligence, patriotism and resilient contempt for and passionate disapprobation of the policy.

Tension had dramatically dissipated following President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to terminate the policy on account of its conceptual fraud and puckish push by the confederates of masterminds and implementers whose motivation has yet to be located within any patriotic rationale and essential goodness of the Nigerian nation-state.

But at least, the “ruga settlements” policy has been upended and President Buhari must be commended for that decision in a moment of extreme national anxiety. Prominent Nigerians must also be commended for promptly speaking up and warning against the inherent tendentiousness and danger in the implementation of the policy.

Scene Two: Following general uproar, the General Secretary of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Baba Uthman Ngelzarma, reveals that “This Ruga settlement model is a component part of the livestock development and transformation plan that is being implemented under the Office of the Vice-President.”
Scene Three: The Office of Vice President faults the statement by MACBAN: “Contrary to claims reported in sections of the media, Ruga settlements are not being supervised by the Office of the Vice President. Ruga is different from the National Livestock Transformation Plan”, tweeted Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande.

THE COMMON SENSE POLITICS OF 2023 – WAY FORWARD FOR NDI IGBO

I get so upset and irritated anytime I read tweets, posts or articles from any supposedly enlightened and exposed Igbo man that endlessly harps on the need for Ndi Igbo to bend over and reach out to other ethnic groups so that one of them can become the President of Nigeria in 2023.

Who told these guys that Ndi Igbo are looking for integration or desire to be sucked into the current systemic/ fraudulent Nigeria STRUCTURE?

I get upset and irritated because the theoretical foundation of their argument always assumes that the unity of Nigeria or welfare of Ndi Igbo can only be achieved once the Igbo man grovels before other ethnic nationalities/compromises our egalitarian believes so as to get one of their own to be elected as the President of Nigeria.

Last week (6 July) was the 52nd anniversary of the declaration of the civil war in Nigeria, a chapter in the political history of the country which many citizens pray should never repeat itself.
As critics on both sides, till date, argue about who did what wrong, when and how, one of the names that keep popping up is that of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the late Premier of Western Region; Vice Chairman of Federal Executive Council when General Yakubu Gowon was Head of State and the Federal Commissioner for Finance under him.
To the people on the Federal side, Awolowo, given his handling of finances and many logistics during the war, made it possible for the war to end the way it did-victory for the Federal side. To the Biafrans, Awolowo was a bogeyman, a merciless genocide advocate whose policy made many on the other side starve and get more impoverished.

'The Lamborghini of shoes': Kanye's Yeezy trainer empire is worth $1billion according to Forbes story on the rapper's comeback from a '$53m debt' - and he's spending his fortune on Belgian plaster floors and 'monastic' white walls in his LA home

Kanye West's Yeezy sneaker empire is worth $1BILLION according to Forbes cover story
You know when Kanye West is coming. His matte-black Lamborghini SUV rumbles up his gated driveway on the outskirts of Los Angeles like an earthquake, and when he steps out, in a white T-shirt and dark sweats, the obsessiveness kicks in immediately.

First, there’s the house: The lushly landscaped exterior of the property he shares with his wife, Kim Kardashian West, and their four children (North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm) serves as a stark contrast to the unadorned alabaster walls within. Nearly every surface is a monastic shade of white. The floors are made of a special Belgian plaster; if scuffed, the delicate material can be repaired only by a crew flown in from Europe. “The house was all him,” Kardashian West later tells me. “I’ve never seen anyone that pays such attention to detail.”

Kanye West's sneaker empire is a billion-dollar enterprise, according to a new cover story on the rapper's business endeavours by Forbes magazine.
Revenue for the Yeezy sneaker line, now with Adidas, is set to top $1.5billion in 2019, and West's pretax income over the past 12 months came in at $150million, according to Forbes.
Since moving the Yeezy line from Nike to Adidas in 2013, West has struck what Forbes calls an 'unprecedented deal' for 15 per cent royalty on wholesale, plus a marketing fee.
For comparison, Michael Jordan is thought to get royalties around 5 per cent on the Air Jordan line, which does annual sales of about $3billion.

How A Rich Emirati Ruler Sent Two Of His Sons To Britain With Every Privilege Only For Them Both To End Up Dead 20 Years Apart

Emir of Sharjah's two sons Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi and Sheikh Mohammed dead
Head bowed and eyes closed, the emir of Sharjah stood over the funeral bier of his son as the prayers of 20,000 mourners filled the cavernous mosque.
By his side were fellow rulers from the other oil-rich states that comprise the United Arab Emirates, while messages of condolence flooded in from King Salman of Saudi Arabia, Sultan Qaboos of Oman, Sheikh Sabah Al Jaber, the emir of Kuwait, King Hamad of Bahrain and King Abdullah of Jordan.
Each sent their wishes that Allah might grant mercy on the soul of the deceased, Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, and ease the grief of his bereaved family.
And, above all, it is his father who will be most in need of that support, divine or otherwise.
On Tuesday last week, Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi should have been celebrating his 80th birthday.
