Macaulay Culkin Booed Off Stage During Performance With His Band - Pelted With Beer in Britain

The former child actor's Velvet Underground tribute band received an unwelcome reception at a performance in Nottingham

 Macaulay Culkin formed a pizza-inspired Velvet Underground cover band. This news was met with unbridled enthusiasm in various corners of the Internet, but when he took the act overseas to England earlier this week, the crowd was vehemently not impressed. During a performance in Nottingham, audience members repeatedly booed the Pizza Underground and threw beers at the stage until Macaulay walked off after just 15 minutes. Can't a guy play his pizza-themed tunes in peace?


The Nottingham Post quotes one fan (who did not want to be identified) as saying, "It just sounds awful. I can't believe he is doing this. Why bother? It must go down well in America or something" (Zing!). Other fans were more appreciative of the group's sound, though, perhaps because Macaulay himself passed out free pizza to the crowd. The band later tweeted an apology to fans who actually did want to see them play for longer than 15 minutes, saying that "a couple [of] people ruined it for everyone." A few fans then chimed in to say that the band was "awesome" and "brilliant," so perhaps the beer-throwing really was the work of just one or two disgruntled pizza haters. Those killjoys need to do what the Pizza Underground says and take a bite of the wild slice.
