Bird lands on tree thinking it is a safe spot to see any approaching predators… unaware it has landed next to a python

If this majestic dove thought it was safe from predators perching on the branch of a tree, it was clearly wrong - as it ended up becoming dinner for a baby python.
Ranger Marc Lindsay Rea came across the incredible sight as he drove through the Madikwe Game Reserve, in South Africa.
The unfortunate dove had taken refuge on the branch of a buffalo thorn tree - presumably thinking it was a perfect lookout point to spot predators.

But incredibly, the young python managed to camouflage itself against the tree and pounced within minutes, wrapping itself around the bird and leaving it dangling like a bee hive.
Marc, who works as a specialist ranger, said: ' I was on a game drive late one morning in the Madikwe Game Reserve when I came across a young python sitting in a small buffalo thorn tree.
'To my amazement, a dove landed right next to this very camouflaged python, unaware that he was there.
