Florida Couple Convicted of Having Sex on Beach in Front of Horrified Families

Elissa Alvarez (r.), 20, and Jose Caballero, 40, were convicted of having sex on a public Florida beach.
A Florida couple accused of having sex on a beach in front of children was convicted Monday after a jury saw raunchy video evidence of the two getting it on in broad daylight.
Elissa Alvarez, 20, and her partner Jose Caballero, 40, face up to 15 years in prison for the lewd love-making session last July on the public Bradenton Beach.

Video of the love-making session on Bradenton Beach was captured by witnesses and shown in a courtroom.

The two were spotted by horrified witnesses, including a 3-year-old girl. At least one bystander captured the racy romp on video, while another called the cops.
"Yeah, they think it's a joke," a woman watching the X-rated scene told a dispatcher, according to a 911 call released by Manatee County police.
"It's very disgusting. He just took her top off. There's a child here."
Footage of Alvarez mounting Caballero was shown in court Monday before a jury found the couple guilty of lewd and lascivious behavior within 15 minutes of deliberation.
Both will have to register as sex offenders.
"You think about 2:30 in the afternoon on a crowded beach, it takes a certain kind of person to do that in front of children only feet away," Assistant State Attorney Anthony Dafonseca said.
Alvarez has no prior record, but Caballero has served almost eight years in prison for a cocaine trafficking conviction, the Bradenton Herald reported.
A sentencing date has not yet been announced.
Caballero's relative, who declined to give her name, defended him as a "great person" and said the crime didn't warrant the punishment.
"There are other things out there we need to worry about, and they're still loose, people who have done worse stuff," she told the Bradenton Herald.
But prosecutors said the two lovebirds needed to face the consequences.
"Did they try to cuddle or do it discreetly? Did they go in the water where people couldn't see?" prosecutor Ed Brodsky asked the jury. "Did Ms. Alvarez try to drape a towel over herself or anything? They didn't care."
