Oba of Benin, Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa 1 is dead. He was aged 93. His death was announced in a statement released by Edo state government some hours ago. The late monarch was the 38th Oba of Benin. Formerly known as Prince Solomon Akenzua, Oba Erediawua took on the title and duties as traditional head of state and rightful heir of the extinct Benin Empire when he was crowned, succeeding his father, Oba Akenzua II, in a ceremony held in Benin City, Nigeria, on 23 March 1979. May his soul rest in peace.
