Police said the intruder hit the man several times. The victim managed to make it to a panel by the front door, possibly to trigger an alarm. One of the intruders fought with the man again before breaking free. Both intruders then rushed out of the home.
Police said the armed robbers stole some items of value before running from the home. The man suffered minor injuries in the attack.
Authorities brought in a K-9 from Hallandale Beach and the BSO Aviation Unit to help search for the intruders. So far, there have been no arrests.
