Dzhokar Tsarnev, (pictured centre after his capture and top right), the man believed to be the terrorist behind the Boston bombings, is in custody after he was cornered in a boat in a Boston backyard. he was injured but still alive. The owner of the boat David Henneberry emerged from his house after the curfew in Boston was lifted, saw blood on the vessel, looked under the cover and discovered a person inside. He then fled back to his house and called police, according to CNN. Flash-bangs were being thrown in by police who had surrounded the area to try to flush out the suspect who appeared to have been at the location for most of the day.

A terrifying cache of explosives believed to belong to the suspected bombers have been found today as thousands of police officers continue to scour Boston for fugitive Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

At least seven IEDs have been located, some in Watertown and some at the Tsarnaev family home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, police said. There were fears among officials that devices had been planted at other locations after one was reportedly discovered in the Charlesgate section of the city. The IED has been made safe.

Police and SWAT teams were seen rushing to the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth campus where Dzhokhar is a student.

How UNILAG student drown at Lagos beach

AGOS — A 200 level Medical student of the University of Lagos, Tuesday, drowned at Elegusi beach, in Ikate, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State.

This came as the body of a construction worker with the China Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC, currently working on the expansion of Ikorodu road, was recovered, Thursday, three days after he fell into the lagoon at Fadeyi Oloro bridge, Asolo, Lagos.

Information available toVanguard revealed that the 200 level student of the Department of Dentistry, whose identity was given as Eniola Abiola, went to the beach to mark the birthday of one of her friends, at about 8p.m.

But tragedy struck when Eniola and other friends said to be taking photographs with the celebrant, were swept away by ocean waves. While others reportedly managed to escape, Eniola could not. She was reportedly swept into the ocean.

An man suspected in the Boston Marathon bombings on Monday died after a frantic crime spree late Thursday night and early Friday morning. His accomplice is currently at large, and considered armed and dangerous.

At a press conference early Friday, Boston police officers confirmed that the pair are believed to be the same men wanted in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings.

Authorities have identified the surviving suspect as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, age 19. The suspect who died has been identified as Tsarnaev's older brother, 26-year-oldTamerlan Tsarnaev, according to the New York Times. Authorities say the pair came from the Russian region near Chechnya and have been living in the United States legally for at least a year.

Opemipo Jaji is facing a life sentence for attacking an 11-year-old girl

A teenage paedophile viciously raped a girl of 11 while he was on probation for another sex crime.

Opemipo Jaji – who was ‘obsessed with little white girls’ – dragged the girl into a park after she got off a bus from school.

She had tried to run away from him, but he caught up with her before repeatedly raping her over a three-hour period.

After the attack, the girl told police she tried to escape twice, but Jaji threatened to stab her, saying ‘I am this close to killing you’.

The attack took place 90 minutes after the 18-year-old had been seen by his probation officer.

Nigerian student, Olaolu Femi, who has been in detention in the Lungask district of Ukrain for about a year after being arrested for attempted murder has been released. He was released yesterday.

Ukrainian police charged him with attempted murder, but according to eye witnesses, Olaolu was defending himself against six Ukrainian teenagers who attacked him at the entrance to his apartment block last year. Olaolu was said to have managed to get up and defended himself against the assailants with a glass from a broken bottle.

The Lagos State House of Assembly Wednesday morning held a special session for the late publisher of Tribune Newspapers, Chief Oluwole Awolowo, who died overseas on 27 March at the age of 70.

The ash-colour casket bearing the remains of the former politician was brought in a motorcade from the Murtala Mohammed Airport to the Assembly complex at exactly 10.20a.m.

It was immediately laid at the entrance to the chamber as several politicians who attended the ceremony paid their last respect.

It was because he was too honest about his way of life. He liked women and he did not hide it. He liked to smoke marijuana and he did it in the open. Many people like women but they do it secretly. There are so many brothels all around the world but Fela never patronised them, many people go there to pay for s**x.

You will be shocked to know the number of people that smoke marijuana in Nigeria and all over the world. I hope you know that some countries are legalising the smoking of marijuana now. He was truthful about his way of life while many of us are hypocritical about ours. Many people were envious that he was too honest and bold and that was why there were so many controversies about his life.

Most of his friends who are highly-placed admire women even girls young enough to be their daughters. They leave their matrimonial homes to meet them secretly. Some of them hide in hotels to do what they cannot do in the open. Many of them smoke but they are not brave enough to say they smoke. All the call girls you see on Allen Avenue, who picks them? Fela never did.

How was he able to manage his many wives?

It was very stressful for him. Do not forget that he divorced all of them. They were not faithful to him. When he decided to marry them, he did so for a reason. He said they had been with him in difficult times. They endured police harassment and beating. But they never left. Though they were very loyal to him, they still had a bad image in the public because people were calling them prostitutes.

He felt that the best way to protect them was to marry them. They became Fela’s queens, so the society had to respect them. I believe he loved them and he was already sleeping with them before he married them. It was not really a big deal to anybody that knew them. For instance, my mother knew this was happening so it was not a hidden thing. The big deal was how he was able to convince the 27 of them to marry him same day.

The FBI said there has been 'substantial progress' in the Boston bombing investigation after they analyzed surveillance footage from a nearby department store which showed a 'dark-skinned man in a backwards baseball cap' planting the second bomb.

Because of that video - and local news footage - authorities were able to get exactly what they have been looking for - an individual coming in and dropping a package in a black bag before quickly walking away again.

It was initially believed the man had been arrested and would soon be taken to court but White House officials later denied that anyone had been take into custody or even positively identified.

CNN - who broke the arrest news - later backtracked and said it had been a misunderstanding and no arrest had been made.

However, the Associated Press stood by their reports that someone was taken into custody, even after it was widely disputed.

According to the LA Times, two suspects have been singled out in surveillance videos of the scene. A federal official said he has been briefed that authorities believe a second video or photo showed 'two men with two backpacks'. More pictures after the cut......

A number of my friends and family have known for a long time, but it wasn't until the end of March, with all the marriage equality hubbub going on, that I announced my sexuality on Facebook. Bakare Opeoluwa’s courage to stand strong in the face of adversity is legendary. Five times, he sat for the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination and five times his results were withheld. Not because he was involved in any examination malpractice, but for reasons best known to the West African Examination Council.

After his sixth attempt, his full result was however released. He cleared all his papers and applied to the university to read Computer Engineering, his dream discipline. But this was not to be, as his score was below the cut-off point. That is why he opted for polytechnic education and eventually got admission to study Computer Engineering at the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu.

But in spite of his challenges, Bakare, who had lost his father, graduated on Thursday as the best LASPOTECH graduating student during the institution’s 21st convocation. With a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.97 out of a possible 4.0, Bakare bagged a Higher National Diploma certificate in Computer Engineering. He also made history by becoming the all-time best graduate of the polytechnic.

A Nigerian girl, Anne-Marie Imafidon, 20, has joined the league of youngest students to receive a Combined Masters Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the prestigious Oxford University.

Imafidon, an indigene of Edo State, bagged the Degree from Keble College.

“Education is such an important part of young people’s lives and I want to get the message out there to the youth that learning is such a vital element in their growth. I also want them to understand that mathematics is essentially a game of numbers,’’ she said in an interview with NAN in London.

“I’m proud of myself. I’m glad that this has been the result of years of hard work,” she added.

Also speaking to Barking and Dagenham Post, a UK publication, the young scholar put the formula for her success down to three main factors. “It’s my motivation, I have a supportive family and I worked out what I’m good at,” she said.

Anne Marie, who lives in the Docklands with her family,a first noticed her love for numbers at the age of eight. She recalled, “I had a maths teacher who was very encouraging. And it was quite obvious that I liked maths and maths liked me.”

He was attacked in Abuja City's Central Business District by unknown gunmen as he made his way home. His car was shot at but fortunately he wasn't hit. (His car pictured above).

The men who shot at the former lawmaker were driving in a Golf car.

He confirmed he was with the SSS at the moment, before handing us over to the Director of Planning and Strategy for Anti-Corruption Network, a movement he is at the forefront of and here is what he said:

“It’s just a miracle that he is alive. He called me about an hour ago and told me what happened.

“They were about four or five of them and they shot at his Bentley twice, but the bullets didn’t penetrate. It is a miracle, because they are not bullet-proof. They even tried to jack him down from the car.

At least two people have been killed and up to 100 people have been injured after two large bombs went off near the finish line of the famous Boston Marathon today, leaving behind a scene of carnage.

The FBI is now classifying this afternoon's horrific bombings as a terrorist attack. One of the victims has been confirmed as a three-year-old child.

Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis said at an afternoon press conference that there was a third, uncontrolled explosion at the JFK Library which was believed to be an electrical fire.
