Appeal Court Orders Retrial Of Saraki On Three Counts

The Court of Appeal has ordered the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to conduct a retrial of the Senate President Bukola Saraki on three out of 18-count amended charge on false declaration of assets brought against him by the Federal Government.

The appellate court in the appeal filed by the Federal Government against the decision of the code of conduct tribunal that the Senate President has no case to answer knocked out 15 of the 18 count charges as incompetent.

Chief Gani Adams, the newly chosen Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, has dismissed on Saturday the superstitious belief that taking the title may lead to his early death, adding he would die young.
Adams, the National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), said in Lagos that not all those who held the position in the past had died young as is being speculated.

The Ibadan chieftaincy crisis has got messier with the issuance of a 21-day deposition notice to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, by the Obas in Council.
The Obas are accusing Oba Adetunji of acts unbecoming of his office as the paramount ruler of the ancient town.

The traditional rulers led by Oba Lekan Balogun, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, gave the notice on Monday at a press conference at the Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
Among the many allegations levelled against the monarch was taking actions on behalf of the council without inputs from members.

This is the moment the number one suspect wanted over the Salford arson attack that killed three children was arrested on suspicion of murder in front of a crowd baying for his blood.

The suspect, believed to be a 23-year-old man, was dragged from his car and marched away in handcuffs by police at around 7pm last night.

The arrest was a few streets away from the house in Walkden, Greater Manchester ripped apart by fire at 5am yesterday. 

A large crowd gathered in the snow to see the suspect taken away hurled abuse at him and one man screamed: 'I hope you die you b*****d. F*****g dead man walking' while a woman screams 'evil c***'.

The Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has charged the 19 new female aides to do all within their power to improve the socio-economic conditions of women across the state.

Obaseki gave the charge on Monday during the swearing in ceremony of the Special Adviser and 18 Special Assistants on Gender, at the Government House in Benin City.

He urged the appointees not to see their appointments as an opportunity to make some people happy, but a chance to change the circumstances of women, who are about 50 per cent of the state’s population, for the better.
