Sani Abacha was found dead on a chair with an inhaler for asthma on the floor, according Gidado Idris, who was secretary to the government of the federation when the former head of state died.
Idris died on Friday without writing his memoirs, but a revealing interview he granted Weekly Trust on his 80th birthday in 2015 has continued to provide valuable information on his distinguished civil service career.

Asked if he thought Abacha died a natural death or was eliminated, Idris replied: “The General was found on a chair with an inhaler for asthma on the floor. I never knew he was asthmatic until that day. When I met him two days before he died, he seemed normal even if he was coughing a bit. I knew he was ill, but I didn’t know what was wrong. I wouldn’t say he was targeted.”

A Facebook user, Emmanuel Ukachukwu‎, and his family is thanking God for saving them from what would have been a fatal tragedy!

According to him, a food meant to be eaten by his family, had some part of it giving to a goat, only for it to die few hours later!

Beggar Arrested With Guns In Lagos (Photo)

Police in Lagos have arrested a physically-challenged beggar, Godwin Fawehinmi, for allegedly being in possession of different types of guns.

The suspect was arrested by detectives attached to Area M Police Command, Idimu, Egbeda area of the state at the weekend.

The suspect, who is crippled, it was learnt, usually begs for alms on the street on a daily basis. However, it came to many as a surprise when a gun was recovered from him.

High-Speed Amtrak Train 'Hit Something' Before Derailing On Washington State Line - Killing At Least Three And Injuring 100

An Amtrak train making the first-ever run along a faster new route hurtled off an overpass Monday near Tacoma and spilled some of its cars onto the highway below, killing at least three people, authorities said.

The train was moving at more than 80 mph when it derailed about 40 miles south of Seattle on a route that had raised safety concerns.

An official briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press that preliminary signs indicate that Train 501 may have struck something before going off the track. The official was not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP. Edgal Imohimi has ordered the prosecution of one Mr. Folarin Odukoya, a staff of  China Construction Company of Nigeria Limited (CCCN), for attempted suicide.

Folarin would have taken his own life at about 11pm on Sunday December 17th if not for the vigilance of one Police Sergeant Bankole Adekoya of 23PMF who observed him critically and discovered that he was up to something sinister and thus informed the Ebute Ero  Divisional Police Officer, SP Sina Olunlade  who arrived the scene with local divers.

20-Year-Old Eniola Balogun Jailed 21 Years For Raping Five Teenage Girls In The UK

A 20-year-old man has been jailed after being convicted of multiple rapes following two trials in the UK.
Eniola Balogun was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, December 15, to a total of 21 years' imprisonment

Balogun, of no fixed address but from the Tottenham area pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court on 19 September to four counts of rape on four separate teenage girls, aged between 13 and 16 - he also pleaded guilty to the possession of indecent images of a child.
Balogun had been found guilty of a further three counts of rape following an earlier trial at the same venue on 30 March. These offences related to one victim - a 16-year-old girl.
The Judge also ordered Balogun is subject to an extended licence period of eight years which will come into effect on his release from prison.
Balogun will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

Nigerian Lady Dies On-board Emirates Airlines From Dubai (photos)

A Nigerian Lady, identified as Mrs. Abaniwonda Modupe Kofowoola was found dead on board Emirates Airlines when it landed at Lagos Airport. SR reports.

This is coming just few hours after the United Arab Emiraes (UAE) carrier, Emirates airlines, launched its second daily flight to the Murtala Muhammed INternational Airport (MMIA), Lagos and returned to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja.
According to reports from SR, Kofoworola was found dead onboard the airline when it landed at the Lagos Airport. She was with the passport number: A07562816 until her death on the aircraft.
