Condom Couture: Safe Sex Made Fashionable

Condom Couture IV

The images are from a condom fashion show in China. I don't know a lot more than that, but the pictures are AMAZING. If I was to guess, I would say it is about promoting safe sex.
A Chinese condom manufacture Guilin Latex hosted a condom fashion show where condoms of different colors, flavors and sizes were used to make dresses, hats, a wedding dress, night gowns, bikinis, a clock, lollipops (Ew) and other stuff. The ew, gross! factor was very high for me here.
Implications - Some things, such as condoms, can become such well-known pop cultural symbols that consumers reinterpret their intended purpose all their own. Thus, a wave of DIY modifications on iconic products can be observed. Though some companies may feel the urge to step in and stop this from happening, it is best to let things take their course as pieces like condom couture essentially serve as free advertising.
