I’m Part Of The Merger Meeting With APC - Sokoto Governor

Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has cleared the air over doubts being entertained in some quarters on his purported defection to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

He said he was in the know about the meeting where the decision to join the party was taken by the Kawu Baraje-led group and from where the merger was announced.

Despite the announcement by the Baraje-led group that Wamakko was part of their decision to move to the APC, some of the governor’s supporters still believed otherwise in view of the fact that he (Wamakko) was in Senegal at the time of the group’s meeting.

Wamakko, who spoke to journalists in Sokoto on Friday shortly after he presented the 2014 budget proposal to members of the State House of Assembly, said he was part of the decision of the Baraje-led group.

“I am part and parcel of the decision by the Baraje-led group just as I am part and parcel of all that transpired during the meeting held by the group,” he said.

But when asked whether it should be reported that he had moved to the APC, he said that was left to the journalists to say or not to say.
