MAYOR OF THE CITY OF HOUSTON DECLARES JULY 17TH AS BASKETMOUTH DAY


The Mayor of the City of Houston 'Annice D. Parker, has declared the 17th of July as Basketmouth Day in Houston, Texas in recognition of his contribution in integrating the Nigerian American Community through his art for the past 6 years in Houston. 
Days after the US Congress made a proclamation acknowledging the legendary status of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, a similar honour has been extended to Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha popularly called Basketmouth.


According to the document below, signed by Annice D. Parker, Mayor of the City of Houston, July 17 has been officially declared Basketmouth Day in honour of the highly rated Nigerian comedian. This special recognition is coming on the heels of his contribution in integrating the Nigerian American Community through his art for the past 6 years in the city.
The congressional recognition ceremony will hold on July 18, 2015 same day as his One Man Stand Comedy Concert,Basketmouth Uncensored at the Ayva Center in Houston.
On record, Basketmouth has become the first Nigerian entertainer to be so honoured. Check out the proclamation below…
