Police sources disclosed that Ekiekeme, also known as Prince Okoroma, an indigene of Okposi village, near Omoku, was arrested by the operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Response Team (IRT) in Omoku, when he came out from the creek to visit his girlfriend. Sources revealed that he confessed to the beheading of the DSP, adding that his head and driver's body were thrown into a river while the white Mitsubishi pick-up van belonging to the police was parked deep in Uju Forest with the key stuck in the ignition.
"He also confessed that he and nine members of his gang members have seven AK-47 rifles, two pump action guns and that they ambushed the police team because they felt they were against their party.
"He listed other gang members as Kelvin, John Ahiaikwo, Chukwuemela a.k.a Jungle Justice, Izu, Bright (Gang leader), Okechukwu, Ngozi, Christian, himself, and KACHI NWOKOCHA as their sponsor. The said KACHI NWOKOCHA is an Apc leader in Omoku and served as commissioner of power under the Rotimi Amaechi administration.
They killed the officers in error thinking that the police men were working for PDP.
We hope the police will not sweep this under the carpet when calls starts coming in from powers that be in Abuja.
NOTE .......
The same Apc that used police officers to kill, disenfranchise and maim innocent PDP members during the December 10th legislative Rerun Elections in Rivers State are still the same people killing the police officers.
The arrest was assisted by the support of the Police Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) and the 48 Division of Police Mobile.
