President Winfrey: Oprah 'Is Actively Thinking' About Running For President And Has Been Discussing The Idea For Months Reveal Friends

Oprah Winfrey's fans praised her Golden Globes speech accepting the Cecil B DeMille award, calling 'it one of the greatest American speeches' and even dubbing her the future president
Two of the media mogul's closest friends spoke with CNN after the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, and revealed that Oprah is 'actively thinking' about running for president.

The idea has been talked about for several months according to these friends, and while Oprah's confidantes are encouraging her to run, the self-made billionaire has yet to make up her mind.

Her longtime partner Stedman Graham certainly thinks it is a good idea, responding to a question from the The Los Angeles Times about a potential Oprah presidency by stating: 'It's up to the people. She would absolutely do it.'

One person who has strongly dismissed the idea of Oprah running for office however is Oprah herself, who has stated numerous times over the past year that she has no desire to commander-in-chief.

That includes on Sunday, when she was asked once again if she had any presidential ambitions after 'Oprah 2020' began to trend on social media.

'I don’t. I don't,' she told Bloomberg.

Oprah's best friend Gayle King tried to get the same scoop back in October when she asked Winfrey outright on CBS This Morning.

'2020, I'm wondering if you've narrowed down your short list of VP candidates?', she said.

A stunned Winfrey was speechless and turned her head to look at King's co-hosts Norah O'Donnell and Charlie Rose before stammering: 'Is she .. has she ... she's lost her mind now.'

King continued: 'People ask it all the time, even I am starting to think the rules have changed.'

She then said that when she told one person she 'would bet her first born' that Winfrey would never run, her daughter and oldest child Kirby protested that analogy.

That drew out laughter from Winfrey, who stated: 'Well you can be safe with that. There will be no running for office of any kind for me.'

It is an idea Winfrey also addressed back in March, and also shot down at that time.
She made the comment while appearing on 'The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations.'
'Have you ever thought that, given the popularity you have—we haven't broken the glass ceiling yet for women—that you could actually run for president and actually be elected?' asked Rubenstein during that interview.
'I never considered the question even a possibility, but then I thought: "Oh,"' she told Rubenstein.
'
Because, it's clear you don't need government experience to be elected president of the United States,' noted the host.
Winfrey responded by saying: 'That's what I thought. I thought: "I don't have the experience. I don't know enough." And now I'm thinking: "Oh."'
The television icon later claimed that a White House run 'won't be happening.'
That was also not the first time she answered the question this year, telling Stephen Colbert back in January of last year that running for president was not her 'thing.'
