People Killed By NSCDC Officer In Gombe During Boy’s Brigade Standoff (Graphic)


A car ran into a Boys’ Brigade procession in Gombe State late on Sunday evening, killing at least 10, according to the Police.

It was gathered that the Boys’ Brigade, from ECWA Church, Bamusa in Barunde and from St Peter’s Anglican Church in were in a procession to Sabon-Layi Area of Gombe metropolis, where they were expected to celebrate Easter on Monday when a car crashed into them.

A man who reportedly witnessed the incident has narrated what happened. It was claimed that a Civil defence officer popularly known as Adamu Abubakar Ukasha, had a misunderstanding with members of the Boys Brigade, Zone A, while they were on procession during the Easter rally at around 12 midnight in their characteristic manner with music and dancing.


The occupants of the car were the civil defence officer, a police officer friend and two ladies. He (Ukasha) was told to use the other lane since the road was occupied. He protested and even threatened to shoot the Boy on duty with his side pistol.

After the ensuing argument, he passed, dropped off the girls, and turned around to the lane where the processionists were, turned off his headlights, and in a spiral motion ram into them killing ten people on the spot and injured over 30 persons. 

The Civil defence officer and his police friend alighted from the car and tried to escape. They were caught by the mob and beaten to death.
