An unspecified number of passengers were feared dead on Thursday when an 18-seater commercial bus plunged into the Arun River at Ogere, near Ijebu Ode in Ogun.

Akure Youths Flogged Eze-ndigbo Out Of Deji Of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Palace



Akure the capital of Ondo State, has remained grounded since Tuesday following a clash between Igbo indigenes and Akure youths.

The Akure youths accused the Igbos of disrespecting their monarch, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo.

This followed the alleged refusal of the Igbos to obey the instruction giving by the monarch.
Reports gathered indicates that the youths were furious over the manner the Eze-Ndigbo of Akure, sir, Gregory Iloehike allegedly addressed the Deji in his palace, when he (Iloehike) was invited.

A palace source disclosed that trouble started between the Deji and Igbo residents, following the installation of an Igbo man as the chairman of one of the markets in Akure by the Eze-Ndigbo.

Oba Aladetoyinbo was said to have been angry, having felt that it was a taboo for an Igbo man to rule over a market in Akure.

Former Bayelsa state governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is dead. He died of Cardiac arrest today at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. He was reported to have gone into a coma two days ago and was placed on life support but didn't make it.

Floyd Mayweather's massive car collection lost a few top-notch vehicles this week after a trailer transporting the boxer's Bentley, two Rolls-Royces and a customized Jeep burned to the ground.

The trio started living in the kiosk after the Mum caught her Husband allegedly raping her. Names of the children and mother will not be disclosed so as to protect their identity. The teenager was raped by her stepfather, 60-year-old Joseph Salako and were sent packing after her mom confronted him and raised the alarm.

Amaechi arrived the Maitama, Abuja residence of the Senate President at about 11:45pm and left at about 1am, last Wednesday morning.

A young child lost his life after he was caught in an escalator at a train station in Chongqing on Thursday, Oct 8.

The Borno State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the killing of three persons after a failed attack by four suspected suicide bombers in Gubio, Borno State.

The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Aderemi Opadokun, stated this while speaking with newsmen in Maiduguri, the state capital.

For four months, the nation was in suspense as it awaited President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial list. Some people have hailed the list, describing it as befitting of the country at this crucial time; others are of the view that there is no justification for the long wait as the list does not spring any surprise. 
Will there be change across the ailing sectors in the foreseeable future? The answer to this puzzle could be found in the composition of the proposed Federal Executive Council (FEC). The ministerial list, which was submitted to the Senate last week, was read to senators yesterday by Senate President Bukola Saraki. Predictably, opinion is divided on the list. Many stakeholders have hailed the motivation and wisdom of President Muhammadu Buhari in selecting the team of ministers and special advisers. It is his prerogative. But, eyebrows have also been raised in some quarters. Thus, the list has elicited mixed feelings.

AS the Senate today, unveils the ministerial list it received from President Muhammadu Buhari last Thursday, some senators have provided insight into how the screening and confirmation of nominees would be done.

Some of them, who spoke on the terms and conditions that would guide the screening at the National Assembly yesterday hinted that the upper legislative chamber would adopt stringent measures in line with the provisions of the Constitution.

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents yesterday's evening detonated bombs in the Kuje, Jikowyi, Maraba and Nyanya area of the Federal Capital Area of Abuja,killing several people.


A security source confirmed two bombings with one detonated just behind Kuje police station. In a separate incident, another bomber detonated explosives at Nyanya area of Abuja.

EFCC Swoops On Diezani’s Residence In Abuja As Ex-minister Is Arrested In London



Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday carried out a search of the Asokoro, Abuja, residence of Diezani Alison-Madueke as part of a multinational investigation of the former minister of petroleum resources.

The former minister was arrested in London, UK, on Friday by the newly formed International Corruption Unit of the country’s National Crimes Agency.

The agency announced on its website on Friday that it had arrested five people “across London” as part of an investigation into suspected bribery and money laundering offences but stopped short of naming the suspects.

TheCable understands that the operations are being coordinated with several international agencies because of the “sensitive” nature of the investigation.

EFCC made “significant recovery” of documents at the Abuja of the former minister, TheCable was informed by a senior security source.

“The raid on her Asokoro residence today (Friday) yielded vital information that will help in the prosecution of the case,” the source said.

“Many agencies across several countries are involved in this investigation. Anti-money laundering agencies in Austria, France, Switzerland, Nigeria and UK are working together on it.”

Ladipo Market finally demolished

Traders at Ladipo Main Market in Mushin, Lagos State, western Nigeria, were in shock and tears as bulldozer and a team of security personnel arrived the market on Thursday to demolish the market for reconstruction.
As at 4.30 pm on Thursday shops had been brought down while the exercise continues on Friday. Traders were ordered to leave the market with their goods and when they attempted to resist, the bulldozer moved in and started the demolition.
Some goods were destroyed as many of the traders were not in their shops because of the Independence Day celebration and public holiday.
Traders and the Mushin Local government had been at loggerheads over plans to re-construct the market and turn it into a modern plaza.
The traders, through their leaders alleged that they were not carried along before the plans to re-construct the market was carried out.
They expressed concern over what happened to shop owners in other markets where such reconstruction was carried out and they never got back their shops after the reconstruction.

It was because of that that they resisted the plan and went to a Lagos High Court to obtain an injunction to stop the demolition.
Following the order, the traders, developer and Mushin Local Government went into discussion and negotiation which led to a truce. And the traders, through their BOT chairman, Nnamdi Chukwuka, withdrew the matter from the court.

Six-year-old gets plastic surgery for his 'elf ears' after he was bullied by his classmates in the first grade


A six-year-old boy from Utah who was called 'elf ears' because his ears stuck out got plastic surgery this month to put the teasing to an end.
They say, 'that I look like an elf and I have weird ears', first grader Gage Berger told Inside Edition on Monday.
'I just don't want to be made fun of,' he said with his eyes downcast.

Gage's parents Tim and Kallie told Inside Edition they feared the bullying could lead to lasting psychological trauma and that their son would often hold his ears back in the mirror to see what he looked like.
