Knock knock...Man Finds Giant1.5 Metre Monitor Lizard Thumping On The Wall

Eric Holland snapped this 1.5 metre Monitor Lizarwhile it was scaling the side of his Thurgoona property
A man has found a 1.5m lizard climbing the outside of his house after he heard it thumping on the wall.

The Daily Mail reports Eric Holland was out in the yard of his Thurgoona property in southern NSW when the fully grown Lace Monitor Lizard came up to him, reared up on its hind legs and stared him down.

The 80-year-old said he fled inside, fearing he could be bitten or scratched by the lizard, which carries a venomous bacteria in its mouth.

But when he heard a loud banging noise on the wall of his house, Mr Holland ventured back out.

"I instinctively decided to go out with a camera. I couldn't believe what I saw when I got out there."

The huge lizard, which can grow up to two metres long and weigh up to 20kg, had scaled the side of his home.

Mr Holland managed to snap this picture of the goanna before it disappeared into his garden.

"I have lived here for 18 years but I have never seen a lizard that big before. It was huge!" he said.
