Friends of Lekan Shonde, the alleged killer of his wife Ronke, persuaded him to give himself up, report to the police and face the music.

For the last four days since the death of his wife Ronke, Lekan Shonde had been in a dilemma. He was as confused as he was traumatized, friends of the alleged wife killer reveal.

He was in hiding, running helter skelter, threatening to kill himself.

Today, after much persuasion, he was arrested and taken to the Commissioner.

Ronke Shonde's Alleged Killer Husband Tells His Side of What Happened While In Hiding, Denies Killing Her

The man who allegedly killed his wife and mother of his 2 children, Ronke Shonde in Lagos on Friday, has given his side of the story while in hiding. Lkan Shonde spoke to PUNCH Metro over the phone line provided by his in-law, Bolatito, which was confirmed by the police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos. Mr. Shonde told Punch correspondent that his wife, Ronke provoked him on Thursday when she described how her lover slept with her in a hotel in Abuja on Thursday night.

Lekan, a depot worker in the Apapa area of Lagos State, said his wife of eight years changed after she allegedly started dating the general manager of a publishing company she worked for.XX He said his late mother had warned him against marrying Ronke but he ignored his mother's warnings and still married Ronke, a decision he regrets.

Facebook user, Damilola Ayinde, narrates how he was robbed of his car at gunpoint at Anthony, Lagos in the early hours of this morning. He wrote;

Domestic violence is not something any woman or man should have to endure. This is the story of Ronke Bewaji Shonde. She was beaten to death by her husband yesterday morning at their home at Tiemo Crescent off Awori street in Egbeda Lagos, and her husband, Lekan Shonde, is missing. He is believed to have beaten her death during a domestic dispute.

A family friend who reported the case said, Ronke and Lekan had a fight in the early hours of yesterday, while their kids were sleeping. One neighbor later said he heard noise coming from their flat early in the morning but didn’t think it was something serious.

Yesterday, officials of the EFCC raided the headquarters of Access Bank Plc. and Sterling Bank of Nigeria, in Lagos, and arrested the bank’s MDs, Herbert Wigwe and Yemi Adeola respectively.
