Saudi Man Caught Smuggling Alcohol Attached With Tapes In Underwear With Traditional Long Rob

A Saudi man was arrested for attempting to smuggle 14 bottles of liquor in his underwear into the Kingdom, according to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The man was stopped at customs on his way back from Bahrain on the 16-mile-long King Fahd Causeway linking the two Gulf countries, according to the head of customs Fahad Dhufallah al-Otaibi.

Inspectors searched the man and found bottles of alcohol attached with adhesive tapes to his upper and lower legs and hidden by the man’s traditional long white robe.

Alcohol is strictly prohibited in Saudi Arabia and the penalty includes a prison sentence and flogging if caught.

Last week, Saudi customs seized two shipments of liquor from Bahrain, including 415 bottles concealed in various parts of a vehicle and 83l of liquor hidden inside the fuel tank reserve of a truck.

In November last year, a man was caught trying to smuggle 48,000 cans of Heineken disguised as Pepsi into Saudi Arabia
